John Conyers’ (D-Mich) Wife Has Been Indicted For Corruption Charges!
John Conyers, a prominent Democrat member of the House and head of the House Judiciary, has a bit of pickle on his hands. His wife Monica, just received notice that she has been indicted on corruption charges involving contracts in Detroit.
Conyers received a pre-indictment letter [today] instructing her to reach a plea deal with prosecutors by the end of the week or face charges, according to Detroit’s two papers, the Free Press and News.
The investigation involves whether Conyers took bribes to switch her vote on a $1.2 billion contract with Synagro Technologies to handle disposal of Detroit’s sludge. Conyers, who served as head of the City Council after the ouster of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has been under investigation for some time for her connections to the deal.
The News reported that Conyers is considering a plea bargain, but is reluctant to serve jail time as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Pass the popcorn… I don’t think the Republicans have to destroy the Democrats, they may just do it all by themselves.

Sad that a regular “Joe” would have been arrested already… politicians and their family, especially when Democrat, get off Scott-free. I wouldn’t be surprised if her husband pulls some strings… he is chair of the House Judiciary Committee and all…
