Why I’m a 27 Year Old Conservative
I grew up in the liberally elite state of Connecticut, inundated with yacht clubs, country clubs, and various people suffering from the chronic condition of cranial rectal disorder. Connecticut was a cross between the cinematic masterpieces of Pretty in Pink, Mean Girls, and the Stepford wives. I never lived on the right side of the tracks, like Molly Ringwald, was never popular, nor did I want to conform to the rest of the “wives” living in the neighborhood. I was dead set to go against the grain, remaining true to my morals and beliefs. Growing up in Connecticut allowed me to see the superficial hollowness that becomes so prevalent in elite society. The Only Ones With Cajones in the GOP are Women; UPDATE: AUDIO ADDED (Under Excerpts)
Sarah Palin has been laying it on the line and with all the negative media attention she received last year, it shows that this woman knows she has nothing to lose and could care less what others think at this point. Her attitude is what is needed during this time of media propagandizing and kowtowing to the Democrats, especially Obama – it’s about time that somebody within the GOP actually stands on principle – not politics as usual, special interests, PC mumbo-jumbo, or money.
Palin has made statements regarding the North Korean missile threats and Obama’s budget cuts aimed at specific defense programs. Sarah has issued very poignant, concise, intelligent statements on Dr. Tiller and William Long (the military recruiter). She has vetoed some stimulus funds that had universal energy codes attached to them – something that Alaska certainly does not need. Sarah has also continued her fight for the gas pipeline. Governor Palin was most recently attending a rally in honor of Ronald Reagan, where son Michael Reagan, was the keynote speaker, in Anchorage. During a brief 17 minute introduction of Michael Reagan she made statements regarding the control government wants over not only the states, but us, as individuals. Have any GOP beltway hacks so much as inferred this?
Here is part of her speech:
“Since when can you get out of huge national debt by creating trillions of dollars of new debt?” Palin asked. “It all really is so backwards and skewed as to sound like absolute nonsense when some of this economic policy is explained.”
“We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it,” she said. “And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people.”
“Some in Washington would approach our economic woes in ways that absolutely defy Economics 101, and they fly in the face of principles, providing opportunity for industrious Americans to succeed or to fail on their own accord,” she said. “Those principles it makes you wonder what the heck some in Washington are trying to accomplish here.”
Though the bulk of her remarks focused on government encroachment into the private sector, and praise for former President Reagan’s views on limited government, the former vice presidential candidate briefly touched on national security. She told the crowd that “the terrorists are still dead set against us” and that her son Track is still deployed in Iraq.
“It is war over there, so it will not be war over here,” she said. “And it had better still be our mission that we win, they lose.”She also pointed to the recent dismissal of another ethics complaint against her, one that accused the governor of having a conflict of interest for wearing a jacket to the opening of the Tesoro Iron Dog race in February that feautured the logo of the sponsor of her husband’s team. Palin has been forced to set up a legal defense fund to help pay for fees related to an onslaught of ethic complaints.
Palin said of the people who have filed the complaints: “Those are the folks who want to tell me, they want to tell you, to sit down and shut up. We will not do that. I just can’t, because I love my state. I love my country.”
Here’s a great quote that was left out since it was CNN that reported on it (just a little biased):
“I am just a mom; I’m a proud Alaskan hockey mom. I love my country, I’m concerned about my kids’ future and your kids’ future. I was raised where it is rugged, and you’ve got to be tough with dogged determination in order to survive sometimes.”
Governor Palin was introduced by Eddie Burke (a radio show host in Alaska) and he said the following:
“Pardon me Governor for saying this, but Barry Goldwater Jr. recently said ‘She is attractive, she is smart, she’s got the right message, and she doesn’t take crap from anyone.’”
Audio of her speech. (And yes, she does say “SCREW POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!!!”)
Michele Bachmann has also been incredibly outspoken over the last few months, especially regarding ACORN. She has been trying to pass legislation that would not allow ACORN or any other institution that receives tax payer funds, under investigation or indictment, to receive them, until all charges are officially dropped. This of course did not pass in the House, which is run by the Democrats – most likely because ACORN would have been affected and we know that dead voters always have positive effects for those trying to get elected in close races. Too many politicians would be indicted along with the dirty deeds of ACORN if this was ever investigated completely. However, Bachmann is starting a petition campaign to get this started and to end ACORN’s funding.
These are the types of people we need to keep our eye on and listen to. These are the politicians that are not afraid to speak their mind no matter what the repercussions, because they have character and believe in more than themselves – they believe in the individual; they believe in the USA.
Help out Michele and sign her petition here.
Liberals must also be noticing that the women on the right are the more involved, less fearful of the bunch – since they have to go after some of our women who aren’t even politicians, just pundits, bloggers, columnists and commentators, by writing an article about hate f***ing them… The tolerance of liberals never ceases to astound me.
Keep it up ladies!
Sonia, Sonia, Sonia… You Have Lotsa Splainin’ To Do
Sonia Sotomayor has another interesting court case that involved a teen blogger, a reputation as a bully among her peers, declaring the 2nd amendment is not a constitutional right, and after posting yesterday about La Raza, (in which I made no mention of a connection), we find out that she is in fact a member. La Raza in Spanish means The Race. The very essence of the group is racist.
The teen blogger case is very disturbing, mainly because it was a high school student who was denied the opportunity to run as class president because of a statement she made on the Internet about her teachers and the school administration calling them D* bags. What child doesn’t say nasty things from time to time when they get emotional or upset? Sotomayor’s ruling stated that the female student, who used the term after the school’s battle of the bands was canceled by faculty, would cause a possible disruption, and therefore was unable to run – hello?? Basic 1st amendment? It’s not like she yelled fire in a crowded movie theatre – we are talking about an angry Internet post of a term that is commonly used nowadays when people are upset. Being from Connecticut myself, I’m surprised I didn’t already know about this woman, granted she did not preside over my jurisdiction/county.
Sonia Sotomayor’s peers and co-workers have also made statements after her nomination claiming that she is a bully and quite abrasive in the work environment. Compared to other court justices on both sides of the aisle, most are very well respected and amiable. It’s important in any working environment to feel comfortable and not harassed – it would be very upsetting to learn that she tried to pressure or bully other SCOTUS members in the future, to make a decision to her liking.
Sonia has also ruled that the 2nd amendment was not a constitutional right in the past. I’m not sure why it would be an amendment in the constitution, and the 2nd one at that, if it wasn’t constitutional, but what do I know? It’s also my understanding that our constitution was established based on Jefferson’s Federalist Papers? Federalism did reign supreme in those days and that meant more state power…?
Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayorruled in January 2009 that states do not have to obey the Second Amendment’s commandment that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
In Maloney v. Cuomo, Sotomayor signed an opinion of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit that said the Second Amendment does not protect individuals from having their right to keep and bear arms restricted by state governments.
The opinion said that the Second Amendment only restricted the federal government from infringing on an individual’s right to keep and bear arms. As justification for this position, the opinion cited the 1886 Supreme Court case of Presser v. Illinois.
“It is settled law, however, that the Second Amendment applies only to limitations the federal government seeks to impose on this right,” said the opinion. Quoting Presser, the court said, “it is a limitation only upon the power of Congress and the national government, and not upon that of the state.”
The final and most extreme issue coming to the forefront is her association with the radically liberal La Raza. I posted yesterday on other details about the SCOTUS nomination and in so doing, also mentioned the organization and provided a link with facts.
There are many immigrant groups joined in the overall “La Raza” movement. The most prominent and mainstream organization is the National Council de La Raza — the Council of “The Race”.
To most of the mainstream media, most members of Congress, and even many of their own members, the National Council of La Raza is no more than a Hispanic Rotary Club.
But the National Council of La Raza succeeded in raking in over $15.2 million in federal grants last year alone, of which $7.9 million was in U.S. Department of Education grants for Charter Schools, and undisclosed amounts were for get-out-the-vote efforts supporting La Raza political positions.
The Council of La Raza succeeded in having itself added to congressional hearings by Republican House and Senate leaders. And an anonymous senator even gave the Council of La Raza an extra $4 million in earmarked taxpayer money, supposedly for “housing reform,” while La Raza continues to lobby the Senate for virtual open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens.
La Raza lies the real agenda of the La Raza movement, the agenda that led to those thousands of illegal immigrants in the streets of American cities, waving Mexican flags, brazenly defying our laws, and demanding concessions.
Key among the secondary organizations is the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.
Eeeegads we better watch it here!
California Upholds Prop 8 Vote
In an incredible turn of events, California surprises again, and upholds the original vote in favor of Proposition 8, banning gay marriage in the state of California.
As I have stated plenty of times before, I am a federalist, and I believe in local government and states’ rights. I believe that if people vote for something it should be upheld and in this case, the people voted to ban gay marriage. Since a majority voted that way in the most liberal state in the union, that says something. It would not be right, just, or constitutional for a supreme court at the state level to overturn a majority vote – that is not democracy.
I saw one quote on twitter that stated: Thank God we live in a republic and not a democracy regarding the hopeful overturn of prop. 8. I don’t think this person quite understands what it is she is talking about. Yes, we live in a republic (at least it is questionable to some if it truly is still a republic since there is too much government control) but we PRACTICE the PHILOSOPHY of democracy (government by the people, through representatives) – that is the point of voting. For an entity to overturn a majority vote when that entity is only made up of 7 people, would be massively destructive to what a republic or the practice of democracy really and truly is.
I’m glad that California acted just in this case and stood by its voters – if a state believes in gay marriage or wants to accept it, it will vote that way. Until then, whether you agree or not, the decision (the will of the people) must be upheld.
The final ruling will uphold prop. 8, but it will also uphold the 18K marriages that took place before the official ruling (which were perfectly legal at that time). This law is very convoluted and will probably have some major issues in the future, but we won’t know until that time. The Supreme Court of CA voted 6-1 in favor of upholding the vote from November. The lone dissenter was Justice Moreno.
I have already seen the “tweets” from those who were hopeful that Prop. 8 would be overturned, calling California losers, M&*$@# F*%@#&$ and various other things. They were hopeful that there would be tolerance shown towards them, but once the decision for the vote was upheld, they called everyone opposed to marriage, rednecks, hicks, intolerant bigots, etc. I’m waiting for the upcoming mobs… those same mobs that tore a cross out of an old woman’s hands last November – and who exactly is intolerant?
Let us also not forget that Obama agrees with California’s decision…
