Barney Frank Wants to Set Your Salary

This is beyond socialism folks.  Barney Frank is trying to pass new legislation that will allow government control of salary setting and pay.

I wonder if I will be forced into gymnastics since I am short and close to five foot – as they did in communist Russia.  I feel as though we are heading down that path.

It was nearly two weeks ago that the House of Representatives, acting in a near-frenzy after the disclosure of bonuses paid to executives of AIG, passed a bill that would impose a 90 percent retroactive tax on those bonuses. Despite the overwhelming 328-93 vote, support for the measure began to collapse almost immediately. Within days, the Obama White House backed away from it, as did the Senate Democratic leadership. The bill stalled, and the populist storm that spawned it seemed to pass.
But now, in a little-noticed move, the House Financial Services Committee, led by chairman Barney Frank, has approved a measure that would, in some key ways, go beyond the most draconian features of the original AIG bill. The new legislation, the “Pay for Performance Act of 2009,” would impose government controls on the pay of all employees — not just top executives — of companies that have received a capital investment from the U.S. government. It would, like the tax measure, be retroactive, changing the terms of compensation agreements already in place. And it would give Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner extraordinary power to determine the pay of thousands of employees of American companies.

I don’t know what scares me more, that this is unconstitutional, that the government wants more control, that Timmy Geithner the incompetent, will get more control or that Barney Frank is leading this charge?  They are all very scary to me to be honest!

Supporters are Getting Upset with Their Guy

Did Obama actually think that his decision to cut off GM and Chrysler from the government’s faucet of money would be taken well by the labor faction of that industry?  His biggest supporters were labor unions.

I personally suspect he will still give money to them in the long run, but his initial decision has not been taken well at all.

People are seeing a man who campaigned against special interests, lobbyists, rich fat-cats and Wall Street, but ever since he took office those are the only people he has been paying any heed to, promoting to his cabinet and giving more bailout money to.

I just hope that people wake up and realize that voting for someone on the “inside” of DC will always be on the “inside.”  Look at a candidate’s record to see if they were willing to call anyone out in their own party or otherwise.  Reform sounds like a nice word but actions count.  Obama’s actions speak louder than his teleprompted rhetoric.

Many assembly line autoworkers reacted with skepticism and anger Monday to the Obama administration’s tough tactics, which stoked long-simmering feelings that the people who put the country on wheels get treated differently than the wizards of Wall Street.

“It’s the age-old Wall Street vs. Main Street smackdown again,” said Brian Fredline, president of UAW Local 602 at a plant near Lansing. “You have all kinds of funding available to banks that are apparently too big to fail, but they’re also too big to be responsible.”

But I Thought Guantanamo was Horrible and Cruel?

Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza, recently wrote in her blog/journal that she had a wonderful time at Guantanamo with the U.S. troops.  She loved it so much that she didn’t want to leave, exclaiming how calm, peaceful and serene it was and how magnificent the beaches and people were.

This goes against everything that the media has reported and everything the left wants us to think about this place.  Why is it that when people who actually experience it first hand say otherwise?  I will trust those who have gone to the real Gitmo and report back rather than some made-up story for political purposes.

Out of anyone, I would think a Venezuelan would know what is cruel and what is not, especially having to live under a dictator like Hugo Chavez.  Maybe that’s why so many Russians, Venezuelans and Cubans that I meet are republicans…

A “relaxing, calm, beautiful place” may not be everyone’s description of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the United States holds about 240 prisoners in a detention center that has drawn condemnation from around the world.

But this was the opinion of reigning Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela, who visited the U.S. naval facility in eastern Cuba this month on a trip organized by the United Service Organizations (USO) which supports U.S. troops.

The Guantanamo Bay base, whose presence Cuba’s government has contested as illegal for years, is used by U.S. authorities as a prison camp for foreign terrorism suspects. Critics have condemned it as a symbol of abuses in Washington’s war on terrorism launched after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Caracas-born Mendoza, 22, who visited the facility March 20-25 along with Miss USA Crystle Stewart, 27, enthused about her Guantanamo trip as an “incredible experience” in a blog entry posted on the Miss Universe website dated March 27, 2009 (http://www.missuniverse.com/missuniverse/blog.php).

Oprah’s South African Academy has Second Sex Scandal in Two Years

Oprah Winfrey‘s elite boarding school for girls in South Africa has been rocked by its second sex scandal in fewer than two years.

This school was only established back in 2007 – what are they teaching this young women over there?

Seven students were suspended last week for sexually harassing their schoolmates, the “Afrikaans on Sunday” newspaper reported.

One 15-year-old was accused of preying on another pupil and forcing other girls to lie to investigators about it, the paper reported.

“You have been found guilty of physical contact of a sexual nature with another pupil on campus, harassment, bullying other girls on campus and of being dishonest by not telling investigators the whole truth,” a letter to her parents read.

Other girls were caught fondling each other or trying to get other girls to join them in lesbian liasons, the paper reported.

WOW… just WOW…

Oprah’s spokesperson, Lisa Halliday, confirmed the girls had been suspended from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy School for Girls – but gave few details.

“It is because they contravened the school’s code of conduct,” she said. “We regard the incident as confidential.”

Oprah loves all the praise heaped on her but can’t stand it when she is held accountable.  With all the money she is able to throw around, why doesn’t she move to South Africa and stay with these girls for a while to try and be a real mentor.  Typical liberal crap again, just throw money at things and hopefully it will solve the problem… rarely ever does!

Oprah should also consider giving some money to Chicago, where she grew up, since various neighborhoods in that city are doing so well… just like adoptions, nobody can give back to their own country or the places they grew up.

Just Another Reason to Ban the Fed and the IRS

When will the corruption end?

An Internal Revenue Service agent who audits taxpayers in California has agreed to plead guilty to cheating on his own taxes.

In a plea agreement filed Monday in Orange County, 43-year-old Jim H. Liu (LOO) of Diamond Bar admitted that he filed a tax return claiming a loss on a real estate transaction when he in fact saw a large profit.

He pleaded guilty to one federal count of subscribing to a false tax return, a charge that carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.

According to the plea agreement, Liu sold a property in Pomona in 2002 for a profit of more than $48,000, but reported a loss of $4,200 on his taxes.

The tax loss to the government was more than $14,00
