Schumer States Immigration Bill Will Be Ready by Labor Day
Chuckie Schumer (D-NY) says the Immigration (Amnesty) bill will be ready by Labor Day. This bill would ensure that amnesty would be granted to nearly 12 million illegal aliens, who never thought twice about doing the right thing; America will reward bad behavior. I have a serious issue when it comes to morals and standards – any immigrant who wants to come to the USA should show they care enough about the country. This means they follow the rules and show respect to the millions of citizens already residing here legally, paying taxes, and working, by doing the same.
And what about the immigrants who came here legally and have been living in this country for years? I am friends with many from Asia, especially Vietnam – they came here to be free and enjoy democracy after the Vietnam War. One of the ladies I know wrote a wonderful short story about her escape from Vietnam. She fled to Europe, where she became a Dutch citizen, until she made enough money to come to America. She took her citizenship test and took all the steps required to be a productive, tax-paying member of society. She now owns her own business and does quite well for herself. She is a conservative because she remembers the horrors of where she came from and has never let one day pass where she took this country for granted… Maybe more, besides illegal aliens, should do the same.
“I think we’ll have a good bill by Labor Day,” said Schumer, D-N.Y. “I think the fundamental building blocks are in place to do comprehensive immigration reform.”
Schumer said the way to get the bill done is to be very tough on future waves of illegal immigration. He declared himself pro-immigration and said the U.S. should encourage legal immigration and find some kind of path for people now here to find a way to legal citizenship.
“We have a shortage maybe of engineers here or Ph.D’s in physics, but we probably don’t have a shortage of people who can do construction work,” Schumer said.
If you read between the lines, Schumer wants to pass amnesty and give a free pass to the millions of illegals already in the country. He then says he will be harder on future generations coming into the country. Chock this up to more empty words from the Dems – fooling the masses but making it appear as though things will be ok; if we pass this bill now, we can resolve the other issues later. However, they never resolve the other issues! They try to pass legislation that only cures the symptoms, but never fix the underlying disease! Congress-critters are too concerned about their own pockets and power, to ever go back and fix policies, although they promised they would. Most are just lying, corrupt thieves.
Next Up On the Obama Agenda; Amnesty
Just when you think things couldn’t get worse. We have an impending Cap and Tax vote sitting in the House for tomorrow. Obamacare is coming down the pike and the administration is using every means possible, such as state-run media, to hock this idea to the public. The next item for the administration is Immigration Reform, otherwise known as Amnesty.
Amnesty would potentially destroy the economy as would the other pieces of legislation mentioned above. America’s unemployment rate continues to increase and it doesn’t show signs of stopping. Given the fact that the United States and it’s LEGAL citizens are experiencing massive amounts of unemployment, the likes of which have not been seen for over 20 years, Amnesty would allow more citizens to enter the United States taking away more jobs from the American public and only increasing the unemployment rate. If we already don’t have enough jobs for our own, how can we possibly support more 12 million more? Jobs are only one aspect of this precarious bill. Many of us would also be paying for more entitlement programs, health-care benefits, unemployment benefits etc., for the millions who would be allowed to enter our country. We will be told that it is our duty to help these new citizens assimilate into society so we will prop them up until they can get their feet on the ground, if that ever happens… Unfortunately, this is not the American thing to do. When my ancestors arrived from overseas they worked hard, made their way and built themselves up from nothing. They entered Ellis Island legally and through immigration lines as was the proper way of doing things. My friend who is Vietnamese escaped communism and the war to come to the United States. She entered legally, took her citizenship test, saved her money, and started a business. She has a serious problem with those who think they are entitled, owed, and come here illegally. I don’t blame her.
What’s worse though, is the fact that this isn’t just a one-sided issue. Many Republicans are also on the side of Amnesty and due to the minority status in both the House and the Senate, Republicans who oppose Amnesty may find a very tough go of it.
President Obama is meeting today with a bipartisan committee to discuss this other priority of his, and La Raza’s. He hopes to create a new bill with lawmakers that would include new language/clauses to reform immigration. Ultimately, this is again, fancy rhetoric and wording, coded to mask the true intention to allow amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.
The White House meeting will bring together lawmakers who were involved in the failed immigration fights of the George W. Bush years, but who weren’t the central stars. Gone will be Sen. Edward Kennedy (D., Mass.), suffering from a brain tumor. His Republican partner, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, will be at the White House Thursday. But bearing scars from his presidential battle with Mr. Obama and from his own party over his pro-immigration stand, Mr. McCain says he won’t lead the fight this time.
Instead, it would be up to a new cast, including Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.) and opponents of the last immigration-overhaul efforts, such as Sens. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) and John Cornyn (R., Texas), to forge any bipartisan compromise, lawmakers say.
House Panel Votes Against E-Verify Amendments in Stimulus Bill
E-Verify is an employment eligibility verification system which helps companies certify that their employees are able to work in the United States legally. There was a lot of concern that, when passed, the Stimulus Bill which should create jobs and opportunities for Americans, would do the exact opposite. Not only will the Stimulus Bill increase our deficit but it’s focus is on paying off donors, creating jobs for specific Democrat constituents, and giving employment opportunities to illegal aliens. The Republicans saw all of this coming and the one thing they could curtail was the illegal alien loop-hole by amending the bill so that it would contain a stipulation requiring that the jobs created by the stimulus must go through the E-Verify certification system. Representatives Kingston and Calvert were on the forefront of this matter:
One of Rep. Kingston’s amendments would have required all federal contractors to verify all employees and new hires through the E-Verify system. The amendment would have countered a new executive order that the Administration is expected to announce today that weakens the 2008 executive order requiring all government contractors to use E-Verify. The amendment failed by a 23-to-35 vote.
Rep. Kingston’s second amendment would have required all employees, contractors, and subcontractors of the Legislative Branch to use E-Verify. That amendment failed by a voice vote.
Rep. Calvart’s amendment would have permanently reauthorized E-Verify, but it received resistance from, most notably, Rep. David Price who argued that E-Verify will be addressed during a larger immigration reform debate. The amendment failed 21-to-36.
American jobs are already being lost to illegal immigrants and health care costs are rising due to taxpaying Americans footing the bill for those who don’t contribute. America’s unemployment rate is creeping close to 10%. American citizens are out of work, but without E-verify some of these jobs will be given to people who aren’t even on the books in the United States. How does that help our economy and how does that lower our unemployment rate? I’m sure at this point many Americans would gladly take a job if they are out of work, no matter what that job is.
The jobs created by the stimulus will effectively be canceled out by the jobs given away to illegal aliens or a possible amnesty bill, if it passes this Fall.
Larry Summers, Obama’s economic advisor, exclaims that the only reason the government is taking control of private industry is due out of necessity. This is the same crisis creating, fear-mongering that liberals railed against when Bush used it during the War on Terror - why are they so complacent now?
Lawrence Summers defended Obama’s economic actions, saying they have been “particularly consistent and firm since the crisis began while he was campaigning for president.”
Even as Capitol Hill Republicans are railing against the administration’s interventions into the auto industry, Wall Street and healthcare, Summers said “the actions we take are those of necessity, not choice.”
Mark Sanford was right when he called out Obama, stating he was creating a “Savior-based economy.” Anything “savior-based” will fail, especially when their messiah has never taken an economics course.
McCain Will Face 2010 Challenger in The Primaries
Good! Let’s get a true conservative/libertarian leaning politician in the Senate. It’s time to take back America and kick the bums out!
Social conservatives tolerated John McCain as the party’s nominee, but never trusted him, and he now appears to be facing a serious primary from the right in Arizona next year.
Chris Simcox, the founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and a prominent figure in the movement to clamp down on illegal immigration, will be announcing tomorrow at an event on the Mexican border that he’s resigned from the group to run in the 2010 Senate primary.
From a forthcoming release:
“John McCain has failed miserably in his duty to secure this nation’s borders and protect the people of Arizona from the escalating violence and lawlessness,” Simcox said. “He has fought real efforts over the years at every turn, opting to hold our nation’s border security hostage to his amnesty schemes. Coupled with his votes for reckless bailout spending and big government solutions to our nation’s problems, John McCain is out of touch with everyday Arizonans. Enough is enough.”
McCain was forced to abandon his own immigration reform legislation during last year’s Republican Primary, a move that may have cost him substantial Hispanic support to which his record could have given him access.
So he’s basically getting it from both sides on this one.
Simcox, with a national base and a high profile on the right, is well positioned to give McCain a serious local headache. He’ll find some allies among the conservatives who recently took over the Arizona Republican Party from McCain’s allies, and he has a national fundraising base.
UPDATE: Here’s his campaign website, which includes a clear effort not to be a single-issue immigration candidate.
And just for the record Politico – it wasn’t just social conservatives who didn’t find McCain palatable, but it was those who believed in the constitution, true Federalism, limited government and weren’t pro-amnesty.
Massachusetts Dems: “Let Illegal Immigrants Vote”
It’s just one brilliant idea after the next with these democrats. So illegals who shouldn’t be here in the first place should have a vote? And here I was thinking that only taxpayers should get the vote. I guess I’m way on the other side of this coin – as usual!
Rep. Pam Richardson of Framingham wants the Massachusetts Democratic Party to advocate voting rights for illegal aliens.
You read that right. A handful of liberal Massachusetts towns already allow legal resident aliens to vote in local elections. But Richardson wants illegal immigrants canceling out your vote for school committee and town selectman.
And she wants the state Democratic Party to lead the way.
Video:
“We have a large population of people living here who don’t have the same rights and opportunities of the rest of us,” she complained. “I’m talking about undocumented immigrants.”
There’s a reason they don’t have the same rights and it has nothing to do with discrimination it has to do with the words ILLEGAL and UNDOCUMENTED – it has to do with them not paying income taxes, etc. It has to do with the fact that many of my family friends who are honest, hard-working LEGAL immigrants cannot stand the ILLEGALS. They went through the process to apply for citizenship even though it was full of red-tape, difficult, and arduous. They went through this because they wanted nothing more than to be AMERICANS. Many of whom left communist dictatorships in Russia, Vietnam, and Korea. A personal friend of mine wrote a book on the experiences she had growing up in Vietnam during the war and how she fled on a boat to Europe. She lived in the Netherlands for several years with the ultimate goal of becoming a U.S. citizen because she wanted to be free. She came to the U.S. with cash in hand and a family and nothing else. She built herself up from nothing, saving her money, and finally establishing a business. She is now well-off after growing up and living in poverty and she became a citizen the right way. That’s how it should be and that’s why I will never agree with any of this! This is just another way to grab power by the liberals – watch the census…
