Are You an Extremist? Peruse the New DHS Dictionary to Find Out!

The same Homeland Security Department office that categorized veterans as potential terrorists issued an earlier report that defined dozens of “extremists” ranging from black power activists to abortion foes. The report was nixed within hours and recalled from state and local law enforcement officials.

Whites and blacks, Christians and Jews, Cubans and Mexicans, along with tax-hating Americans were among several political leanings listed in the “Domestic Extremism Lexicon” that came out of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) in late March.

The lexicon lists definitions for key terms and phrases used by Homeland Security analysts “that addresses the nature and scope of the threat that domestic, non-Islamic extremism poses to the United States,” the report said.

“Although we have evidence that some of the groups described in this and other DHS intelligence products are an active terror threat to our nation, I would be interested in knowing why this lexicon mentioning left-wing extremist groups was deemed inappropriate by DHS and recalled, yet a similar report focusing on veterans, antiabortion activists and anti-illegal immigration activists was fit for distribution and sent out by DHS to law enforcement agencies across the country,” Mr. King said.

Oh goody – so we come to find out that people who oppose abortion and illegal immigration (on the right) and those who oppose war or are dedicated to environmental/animal causes (on the left) are lumped into the extremist category just like the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis etc.

The right-wing definition remains the same as the report that was just released from DHS last month, where Veterans of war were gravely offended.

The latest report to become public, the lexicon on domestic extremism, stated that people involved with anti-immigration extremism “may have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism to advance their extremist goals.”

“They are highly critical of the U.S. government’s response to illegal immigration and oppose government programs that are designed to extend ‘rights’ to illegal aliens, such as issuing driver’s licenses or national identification cards and providing in-state tuition, medical benefits, or public education.”

“Cuban independence extremism” is defined as those who “do not recognize the legitimacy of the Communist Cuban Government and who attempt to subvert it through acts of violence, mainly within the U.S.”

And, the “tax-resistance movement” is described as “groups or individuals who vehemently believe taxes violate their constitutional rights.”

So if I am opposed to something my government is doing which I know deep down will be detrimental to our economy and society, then I am an extremist?  Did I get that right?  Well consider me part of the Right Wing Extremist Faction!

Cubans who do not agree with communism are also extremists?  I guess Gloria Estefan would be one too!

Let’s also not forget about taxes – do people who oppose taxes by finding loop holes in the tax code also fall under this definition?  They try extremely hard to fight taxes when April creeps up!

When does somebody see through the fog and realize that maybe it’s not the individual citizens of the United States who are extremists, but perhaps it’s the government itself that threatens this country’s future and its foundation.

Instead of making up these ridiculous reports, maybe DHS should spend its time on the impending attacks now that our national security has been compromised and we are much more vulnerable to “Man-Caused Disasters,” as Janet Napolitano would say.

Breaking: Obama Administration Overrides DHS, CIA, etc. Will Release Chinese Terrorists

Human Events reports:

Moving quickly to release Chinese Uighur terrorists into the United States, Obama administration officials have — for the second time — overridden objections of federal agencies responsible for national security.

The first time — as I reported on April 20 — the White House overrode the inter-agency panel it created from all the national security agencies to review all the cases of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners. That panel found that the seventeen Uighurs — members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement captured at an al-Qaeda training camp in Pakistan — were too dangerous to release in the United States.

I reported in more detail here.

Napolitano Flip-Flops – Make Up Your Mind!

Active or Passive – which one is it?

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is asserting that the description she initially gave of the border swine-flu monitoring effort no longer applies.

Appearing Wednesday before a Senate panel, Napolitano said that “passive surveillance” is “not an accurate picture of what is going on” at U.S. entry points. She had used that term Tuesday morning to describe the nature of the monitoring for illness.

On Wednesday, Napolitano said that U.S. officials are “actively” questioning visitors at the border, asking questions about “whether they are ill, their travel history and the like.”

She also discounted turning to thermal meters to gauge whether people are carrying a fever, and Napolitano also said she does not believe the facts of the current situation would merit closing the borders.

South Park Would be So Proud, Janet Napolitano Regarding 9/11 Says: “Blame Canada”

I figure that Janet is either completely inept or she has been kicking back too many cocktails while getting pointers from Joe Biden.  We may come to find out that Joe and Janet are competing for the 2009 White House Superlative of “Most likely to make a tactless comment.”  I would prefer to see a tiara on Joe Biden’s head for Ms. Gaffetastic 2009, but I will also settle for Janet.

Janet just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut these days or at least phrase things to be diplomatic and professional.  She has supported and allowed the release of a shoddy DHS report that specifically calls out veterans as being susceptible to “right-wing extremism,” and conservatives being possible domestic terrorists.  She has also decided to call terrorism and acts thereof, man-made disasters, instead of just simply calling it what it is.  Let’s also not forget that we no longer have the War on Terror, but the Overseas Contingency Operation.  This woman is a laugh riot!  I hope she’s going to be at the D.C. Improv soon, I’m getting fairly tired of Kevin Nealon. Read more

Janet Napolitano Opens Her Fat Mouth Again – Lawsuit Filed Against DHS

To add insult to injury and as if the “lovely” Janet Napolitano hadn’t done enough already, she suddenly has a hankering for crow.  I was also thinking foot, since she likes to open her mouth and insert accordingly.

Sunday,  on CNN, Napolitano tried explaining that the DHS doesn’t see these vets as threatsThe DHS sees them as saps who don’t know any better than to fall into extremist traps:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Sunday portrayed veterans as victims – not perpetrators – of right-wing extremism as she sought to combat the political controversy arising out of an April 14 Homeland Security memo warning that returning soldiers could be ripe for domestic terrorism participation.

“The report is not saying that veterans are extremists.  Far from it,” Napolitano said on CNN’s State of the Union. “What it is saying is returning veterans are targets of right-wing extremist groups that are trying to recruit those to commit violent acts within the country. We want to do all we can to prevent that.”

So Janet feels that the men and women who have the strength, honor, and dignity to go overseas to fight our enemies lose that heart and determination, as well as character, when they return and are liable to fall prey to all those right-wing extremists? Read more
