Happy Cinco de Cuatro…errrr I mean Cinco de Mayo!
AWKWARD!
Ok so I get what Obama was trying to do, but he obviously needs some help when it comes to using a second language and speaking to try and be cordial to that particular tongue.
I would say that Cinco de Mayo = May 5th or 5th of May so if he wanted to use a play on words for May 4th he should have said Cuatro de Mayo or El Cuatro de Mayo, however, he said Cinco de Cuatro meaning 5 of 4… Odd
But consider this slight gaffe a happy Cinco de Mayo from STLN!
South Park Would be So Proud, Janet Napolitano Regarding 9/11 Says: “Blame Canada”
I figure that Janet is either completely inept or she has been kicking back too many cocktails while getting pointers from Joe Biden. We may come to find out that Joe and Janet are competing for the 2009 White House Superlative of “Most likely to make a tactless comment.” I would prefer to see a tiara on Joe Biden’s head for Ms. Gaffetastic 2009, but I will also settle for Janet.
Janet just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut these days or at least phrase things to be diplomatic and professional. She has supported and allowed the release of a shoddy DHS report that specifically calls out veterans as being susceptible to “right-wing extremism,” and conservatives being possible domestic terrorists. She has also decided to call terrorism and acts thereof, man-made disasters, instead of just simply calling it what it is. Let’s also not forget that we no longer have the War on Terror, but the Overseas Contingency Operation. This woman is a laugh riot! I hope she’s going to be at the D.C. Improv soon, I’m getting fairly tired of Kevin Nealon. Read more
Email Reveals Obama Meets With Veterans for Political Expediency
Will the White House make up another excuse as to why this happened just like Obama’s DVD gaffe to Gordon Brown, or his bow to the Saudi King? This honestly has to be a joke – unfortunately, CNN is reporting on this and since they never report anything these days, it certainly is true…
The White House Press Office accidentally e-mailed a draft version of President Obama’s Thursday schedule on Wednesday night that included the back-and-forth between White House staffers.
The e-mail, sent on a daily basis to inform the media of the next day’s events, at first appeared to be like any other press schedule. But at the bottom of the e-mail, there was a series of exchanges from the press team, as well as a draft of the schedule.
The first section of the schedule noted that in the morning, Obama planned to talk with homeowners who have refinanced their homes and benefited from lower mortgage payments.
One staffer, recommending changes to that line, wrote to “put more emphasis on the real people aspect of this.”
It’s not like the administration really cares about the people – they just want to sound like they do. And who are these REAL people? I think there are plenty of people who, if you mean have a heartbeat and weren’t part of the made-up electorate that voted for Obama; ie., Mickey Mouse, would find that statement a bit offensive.
The draft schedule also showed the president hosting Seder to celebrate Passover. The dinner was marked “closed press,” meaning no reporters allowed.
One staffer asked, “Can we remove the dinner at the end of the day?”
“We put it on yesterday’s deal — so folks already know that it’s happening. They’ll wonder why it’s not listed if we don’t include it on there,” another staffer replied.
The staffer who asked to remove the dinner from the schedule replied, “Apparently Jewish here and in neighboring states are now calling wondering why they have not been invited.”
The dinner was not listed on the final schedule.
Can’t have Jewish constituents wondering if the administration is having a dinner – they may still think they are invited…
And the worst aspect of this email gaffe? Obama’s use and abuse of our veterans for political expediency. I love meeting with veterans no matter what! I have never heard better stories in my entire life. They are kind people with a ton of knowledge and experience. Some of my favorite conversations were with veterans.
In another exchange, one staffer recommended nixing a line about Obama meeting with leaders from the Veterans Service Organizations and Military Service Organizations since the president was now meeting with them before his remarks in an event closed to the media.
“Can we keep it and just change it to say before. Its good for us to say we are meeting with them,” another replied.
I’m appalled – but what’s new? Could you imagine if this happened to President Bush? The MSM would be playing this over and over again until everyone in the nation knew how inept his administration was. However, this has just been buried along with the rest of the articles on CNN’s website; so far.
White House Confuses Hillary with Phone Sex Operator
This is just too good to change at all or even add commentary… From RedState:
That’s Hillary. Mrs. Clinton if you’re nasty.
Yesterday, in what is the latest in a long, hard series of bungles by the White House, reporters who called for an “on-the-record briefing call with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton” were offered the opportunity to provide a credit card if they felt like “getting nasty.”
According to Fox News, the White House distributed an email to the press announcing a conference call, but included the number for a phone sex line rather than the conference call number. Asked for comment White House Press Secretary Bill Burton said the mistake was “one of the stupider things FOX News has covered lately.” I couldn’t agree more Bill, it is one of the stupid things Obama’s administration has done lately and that the press has subsequently covered or, as in this case, not covered.
This may sound cliché at this point, but fantasize with me for moment. Imagine that this conference call had been scheduled for Condi Rice. Are you there with me, baby? You’re calling for Condi and you get Candi? The press would have gone NUTS. Bush would have been bound, gagged, and whipped for it over the course of days. It would have been a press orgy and, what’s more, the one-time thing would have come back to haunt the Bush team for years after. Every time they sent out a press release about Condi … oh, they’d stick with their own phone numbers, sure. But everyone would remember the other number. From that one time. It would be awkward.
Gaffetastic Joe Biden
Biden just can’t seem to nail down those comprehension skills.
In another amazing Biden moment he credited the recent passage of the stimulus as the reason a new Fire Station was built in North Carolina. The only problem… most of the funds were already in place before the stimulus, from Bush.
Biden and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced a new wave of $10.4 billion in federal stimulus money for home loans across the country, and billions more for essential services in rural communities such as Pikeville, which is getting money for a new fire station. Biden used the outdated, current station as a backdrop. Pikeville is just north of Goldsboro in Wayne County.
“We’re investing in places like this all across the country,” Biden said, “to demonstrate the vital role towns like this play in the recovery.”
Most of the money for the station that was announced Wednesday, however, had been secured last year under the Bush administration, according to fire department officials.
State Sen. David Rouzer, a Republican who represents Pikeville and worked in the Agriculture Department under President Bush, said he helped secure the fire department money last year out of the federal agency’s regular programs.
The sad thing is that most of this is just a game by the Democrats. Much speculation has been made that the Democrats are now cherry-picking the best projects that were already established and switching our funds/money so it appears that these were projects created by the stimulus. This is incredibly wasteful and dishonest in my opinion.
“They’re coming in and cherry picking the best projects and switching out the money, saying it’s stimulus money,” Rouzer said. “But it was already approved and in the pipeline. It’s totally disingenuous to come down here and say this is stimulus money, when regardless of whether a stimulus bill passed, they were getting the money.”
The Obama administration is working to draw attention to money for rural communities, where gravel roads and volunteer fire departments are the norm. The moves come as irritation and anger are rising over federal money that has been streaming to Wall Street, banks and car companies.
This is all a facade people – do not look at the man behind the curtain! This same tactic is being used in Alaska as well, where Obama is trying to take credit for the gas pipeline that was already being built and planned before he was anywhere near a leadership position.
Unfortunately, this may not technically be a gaffe, but you still never know with Joe!
