The Obama administration, namely the Department of Justice and race coward Eric Holder, announced the resettlement of 4 Uighur Gitmo detainees in Bermuda, obviously to teach them a lesson. The lesson of course being 40 spf is much safer than Banana Boat accelerator.

The government must be paying Bermuda a hefty fee to take the terrorists since I can’t even get a time share down there!

The Department of Justice today announced that four detainees, Chinese nationals of Uighur ethnicity who had been held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, have been resettled in Bermuda. These detainees, who were subject to release as a result of court orders, had been cleared for release by the prior administration, which determined they would no longer treat them as enemy combatants. The detainees were again cleared for release this year after review by the interagency Guantanamo Review Task Force.

As directed by the President’s January 22, 2009, Executive Order, the interagency Guantanamo Review Task Force conducted a comprehensive review of the four, including a threat evaluation, and approved them for resettlement. The detainees left Guantanamo Bay today pursuant to an arrangement between the United States and the Government of Bermuda.

The Uighurs are a Turkic Muslim minority from the Xinjiang province of far-west China. The Uighurs currently at Guantanamo Bay left China and made their way to Afghanistan, where most eventually settled in a camp with other Uighurs opposed to the Chinese government. After the United States conducted aerial strikes in the area in October 2001, the Uighurs from that camp fled to Pakistan and were later apprehended. According to available information, these individuals did not travel to Afghanistan with the intent to take any hostile action against the United States.

This marks the first time since 2006 that the U.S. government has successfully resettled any of the Guantanamo Uighur population. In 2006, five Uighurs were transferred to Albania; there have been no reports of post-resettlement engagement in criminal behavior or terrorist activities.

The detainees were unable to comment – they we were found on the beach passed out after sipping mamosas.

I haven’t heard much on the recent arrest and thwarting of a terror plot in New York City aimed at decimating Jewish Synagogues and community centers, but it took place earlier this week. Nary a peep or a whimper from the anti-American mainstream media, because heaven forbid we let the American people know that there is still a major islamo-fascist threat even on our own soil.

The media elite should be ashamed of themselves, but they don’t want anyone to really find out how politically biased they are, so they would rather put people’s lives in danger than let them know the truth; that national security is not a joke and it’s quite necessary for our future survival.

Four New York men were arrested Wednesday in connection with an alleged plot to blow up area Jewish centers and military targets. The plot, however, was foiled by undercover agents.

Raids by the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorist Task Force in the Bronx captured the suspected ringleader and three followers in what law enforcement sources are calling a homegrown terrorist plot.

Agents and police watched Wednesday night as the suspects allegedly planted what they thought were bombs outside two Jewish community centers in Riverdale, a Bronx, New York neighborhood. In one case the suspected terrorists planted a bomb inside a parked car. However, officials said the suspects were actually using fake explosives given to them in an earlier sting operation to make sure they didn’t get their hands on real bombs.

“The bombs had been made by the FBI technicians, they were totally inert, no one was ever at risk,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

The FBI said the Muslim suspects were angry and full of hate for America.

“Hatred of the West. The leader of the group, James Cromitie was concerned about deaths at the hands of the U.S. military in Afghanistan,” and also expressed anti-Jewish sentiment, Joseph Demarest the head of the New York FBI said.

According to the criminal complaint, Cromitie said “I hate those f-ing Jewish bastards.” He bragged that it would be a “piece of cake” to bomb a Jewish Center in Riverdale, according to the complaint.

Cromitie was the first to approach the informant, authorities said. He told the informant he has ties to the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad. Authorities said Cromitie had 27 past arrests and had recently been working at a nation-wide discount retailer, authorities said.

Several of the suspects have previously been arrested on drug charges and may have converted to Islam in prison, authorities said.

Another shining example of the religion of peace. And what was it that Obama and his liberal buddies in congress said about moving the Gitmo Muslims into prisons? It wouldn’t cause any problems? Prisons have become a breeding ground for islamo-fascism…

MM has more info and data regarding this recent terror threat and other data regarding our prisons and Radical Islam.

After a year-long investigation launched by the Bush administration, the feds cracked down on a ring of murder-minded black Muslim jailhouse converts preparing to bomb two Bronx synagogues and “eager to bring death to Jews.” They also planned to attack a New York National Guard air base in Newburgh, New York, where the suspects lived and worshiped at a local mosque.

Not one word from the president on the jihadists’ intended victims, motives, or means.

No comfort for the reported targets in the Big Apple, still raw from the Scare Force One rattling that so vainly and recklessly simulated 9/11.

No condemnation for the accused plotters.

Why? Because doing so would force Obama to abandon his cottony “extremist ideology” euphemisms and confront the concrete truth. To borrow one of our obtuse president’s favorite clichés, “let me be perfectly clear” about the reality Obama won’t touch: America faces an ongoing Islamic jihad at home and abroad. Not merely “man-caused.” But Koran-inspired. Yet, Obama refuses to spell out the centuries-old roots of the war that he claims he’ll win faster, better, and cleaner than any of his predecessors.

This reminds me of personal stories when somebody gets injured or has an illness… He/She hates doctors and thinks that if he/she continues to avoid the problem or the inevitable, turning a blind eye to the situation, it will just go away. However, the opposite usually happens, without proper treatment the malady gets worse until sometimes it becomes too late…

WOWZA!

Looks like some representatives are entering the realm of reality and are beginning to understand that constituents do not want these detainees in their backyards!

The vote for the amendment to block funding for the closure of Gitmo was probably the most bipartisan effort during the new administration’s term yet! And it was against a campaign promise/agenda item for Obama. This will leave a black eye on his administration because the majority of congress and Americans do not want the detainees released onto U.S. soil, especially without a plan.

If Bush and the Republicans were so wrong about these convicted terrorists, wouldn’t there have been a more contested vote on this? As we see this was all deliberately political — the Democrats wanted to anger the American public by demonizing Bush and Cheney via their words and through the liberal media so they could gain the majority and win the Presidency. To be honest, I find it all disingenuous and very disheartening that those like Nancy Pelosi who whimper about being misled are actually the ones misleading the public.

Victor Davis Hansonputs it very succinctly:

Except for the introduction of euphemisms and a few new ballyhooed but largely meaningless protocols, there is no longer a Bush-did-it argument. The Patriot Act, wiretaps, e-mail intercepts, military tribunals, Predator drone attacks, Iraq, Afghanistan — and now Guantánamo — are officially no longer part of the demonic Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld nexus, but apparently collective legitimate anti-terrorism measures designed to thwart killers, and by agreement, after years of observance, of great utility in keeping us safe the last eight years…In short, all the fury, the vicious slander, the self-righteous outbursts, the impassioned speeches from the floor, the “I accuse” op-eds by the usual moralistic pundits — all that turned out to be solely about politics, nothing more.

The vote to block funding isn’t even the icing on the cake. Earlier today a federal judge also ruled in favor of keeping detainees as long as possible if the U.S. so chooses! What a victory for America!

A federal judge says the United States can continue to hold some prisoners at Guantanamo Bay indefinitely without any charges.

U.S. District Judge John Bates’ opinion issued Tuesday night limited the Obama administration’s definition of who can be held. But he said Congress in the days after Sept. 11, 2001 gave the president the authority to hold anyone involved in planning, aiding or carrying out the terrorist attacks.

Bates’ opinion comes amid increasing debate over whether President Barack Obama is going to release anyone from Guantanamo. Obama has promised to close the prison by January, but Senate Democrats say they will block the move until he comes up with a plan for the detainees.

Bates’ opinion came in the case of several Guantanamo prisoners who are challenging their detention. ACLU attorney Jonathan Hafetz said the opinion “flouts the Constitution’s prohibition against indefinite detention without charge.”

This was a huge defeat of the ACLU and their anti-American push! Legally Obama is not obligated to release anyone from Guantanamo, so if he so chooses, he may give up incredible amounts of political capital, because any decisions to release detainees will all be on him…

Oh, and if you were curious here are the 6 Nays (crazies!)

But…but…but… I thought Bush was eeeeeevil and stuuuuuuuuuuupid?

What about CHANGE?

Obama will continue the military tibunal system for Gitmo detainees. This was a point of contention for Obama and part of the Bush administration that he brought up and campaigned against last year. However, Obama has flip-flopped (yet again) and will be resuming these activities.

President Obama is planning on Friday to resume the Bush administration’s controversial military commission system for some Guantanamo detainees — which he suspended in his first week in office — according to three administration officials.

Some of the high-profile terror suspects who are being charged in the military commission process include Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self-confessed mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

The administration officials stressed that the updated system will include expanded due-process rights for the suspects, which administration officials note is consistent with what Obama pushed for as a senator in 2006 in order to improve upon the widely criticized approach created by the Bush administration.

The move could increase tensions with liberal groups, led by the ACLU, which are already furious about Obama’s shift this week to block the release of photos showing prisoners allegedly being abused by U.S. personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Anthony Romero, executive director of the ACLU, called the expected new approach on military commissions “fatally flawed” despite the changes.

“The military commissions are built on unconstitutional premises and designed to ensure convictions, not provide fair trials,” Romero said in a prepared statement released earlier this week after speculation about the restart of military commissions surfaced. “Reducing some but not all of the flaws of the tribunals so that they are ‘less offensive’ is not acceptable; there is no such thing as ‘due process light.’ ”

Two of the administration officials said the president will also leave open the option of starting civilian trials on U.S. soil for some of the detainees. But that, too, is a fiercely debated issue on Capitol Hill because of concerns by lawmakers in both parties about where the terror suspects will be kept during such trials.

Time to give credit where credit is due. I’m glad to see that Obama had the sense about him to reverse his original notion to release the detainee photos which would have caused greater damage to our nation, our troops, and our national security, on top of the CIA memo release:

In a dramatic and high-profile reversal for his young administration, President Barack Obama is seeking to block the release of 44 photographs depicting abuse of detainees in U.S. military custody in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Justice Department had already agreed to release the photos by May 28 in response to a lawsuit, but Obama is shifting course.

“Last week, the President met with his legal team and told them that he did not feel comfortable with the release of the DOD photos because he believes their release would endanger our troops, and because he believes that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented to the court,” said a White House official who asked not to be named.

“At the end of that meeting, the President directed his counsel to object to the immediate release of the photos on those grounds,” the official said.

At least some of the polling data that is decent, such as the majority of Americans disagreeing with the photo release decision, is being listened to.

Obama’s reversal is sure to set off an outcry on the left, which has pushed the Obama administration to come clean about interrogation policies and other actions carried out by the Bush administration.

I better see some of those “coexist” people and the liberals who protest every single aspect of war, protesting this and Obama. I don’t much care for hypocrites so I hope they stand true to their principles and are upset about the change of heart… I won’t hold my breath, although I think some of the true progressives will protest just about anything (code pink?)

Obama endorsed such openness during the campaign – and even released memos detailing interrogation practices critics call torture.

Obama has come nowhere near keeping his promise of transparency in the government. He has had several opportunities to do so, not just regarding national security items, and he has chosen the opposite.

All I can say is that I am pleased with this decision from his administration at least!

We all knew that Ms. Piglosi was lying from the get go when new information came to light regarding who was privy to the CIA briefing about interrogation methods, namely waterboarding. She came up with a Bill ‘Clintonesque’ to attempt to confuse anybody who can’t read or surf the net.

She admitted the CIA briefed her and others on interrogation methods, including waterboarding, on suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay prison. BUT her excuse was she didn’t know that they would ACTUALLY use those methods on the terrorists. She then asked what the definition of IS, is.

Most of us were not born yesterday, so it was obvious she was grasping at straws during her press conference. However, there was no proof, only “he said, she said,” of the briefing; that is until the CIA released their briefing report yesterday.

Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.

In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The memo, issued by the Director of National Intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency to Capitol Hill, notes the Pelosi-Goss briefing covered “EITs including the use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah.” EIT is an acronym for enhanced interrogation technique. Zubaydah was one of the earliest valuable al-Qaeda members captured and the first to have the controversial tactic known as water boarding used against him.

*EITs = Enhanced Interrogation Techniques

Human Events obtained the list of those who were briefed and privy to the interrogation techniques in 2002 – and not surprisingly, Democrat after Democrat is listed on this document:

Nancy Pelosi

John Rockefeller

Harry Reid

Dianne Feinstein

“How will judges prevent the public disclosure of classified material? What about Miranda rights, or evidence obtained under battlefield conditions?

Hooray! Some Democrats are coming to their senses!

House Democratic leaders Monday dropped President Obama’s request for $81 million to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, bowing to strong Republican criticism that the administration lacks a plan to relocate terror suspects detained there.

I recall that 81 Million request – funny how it was named as something else so it would be passed but after its passage would be used for something entirely different. Is that the transparency Obama promised the people?

Mr. Obama requested the money as part a spending bill for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but Democratic appropriators left it out of the bill circulated Monday among House Appropriations Committee staffers.

Republicans have been criticizing Mr. Obama for rushing to keep his campaign promise to close the prison camp at the U.S. Navy base on Cuba without a plan for what to do with the roughly 240 terrorism suspects currently held on the island.

One would think that a plan and a model of some sorts would be important when dealing with something as delicate as convicted terrorists.

Closing the prison “just never stood up to logic. There is no place on the planet to take the worst of the worst that would treat them as well as they are treated at [Guantanamo],” said Rep. Steve King, Iowa Republican, who visited the facility a month ago.

“The bottom line really is that [if the prisoners are released], innocent people will die and some of them likely will be Americans,” he said.

But why would Democrats care about their own citizens? They sympathize more with the terrorists than the Americans who would inevitably be affected by the Gitmo close and the release of these people onto our own soil and in their own backyard. If someone who voted for Obama wants to take these guys in, then so be it – I think they should.

Democratic leaders were not immediately available to comment.

What’s new?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, previously dismissed the Republicans’ objections as another example of partisan obstructionism by the minority.

“It would be highly irresponsible for Republicans to attempt to hold up funding as part of their just-say-no strategy,” Reid spokesman Jim Manley said.

Leave it to Senator Dingy Harry Reid, who has rocks for brains to try to make this something ideological and politically based. It honestly is in the best interest of the nation to keep that prison open or to at least have a real strategic to go forward with the plan.

Senate Democrats have not come out in support of using the war-spending bill to close the prison camp, a strong signal that the move by House appropriators could kill the funding in the bill.

Good! I’ve been wondering where some of those moderate democrats went to!
