Garofalo: No Protest, but Confronted…
Unfortunately, Garofalo did not experience the backlash that would have been humorous to watch. I do enjoy comedy and it would have been apropos to have seen her receive what she deserved after offending middle class America by making those prejudiced remarks.
Although Janeane was only confronted by Fox news prior to the event, unaware of what awaited her at her show, it was obvious that she was nervous about her comedy event being interrupted/disrupted by tea partiers. She was so concerned that she had to open up her act by mentioning the tea partiers as “tea-baggers” and welcomed them by saying “White Power.” Poor Janeane just doesn’t get it. It may do her some good to take a history lesson and learn that her party is more aligned with those that want “white power.” Neo-Nazi groups and White supremacy groups have always been Socialist by nature and believe in centralized government so they can force their beliefs upon others. She also forgets that her party created the KKK and tried to block all of the civil rights legislation in the 50′s and 60′s. The entitlement prorams are actually an addictive means to keep specific groups oppressed and under the thumb of the Democrats. I recently spoke to a friend who is currently on unemployment who claimed that it was almost like heroin. He could see how people could get addicted to welfare and government entitlements because he doesn’t have to work and everything gets paid for. So it seems that Ms. Garofalo can dish it out but she can’t take it – once confronted she stutters and gets upset and lashes out.
She evidently cannot really back up her comments with facts and stooped low enough lie about a sign that stated “What you talking ’bout Willis?”, which I personally doubt even existed, since it has nothing to do with liberal policies or fiscal irresponsibility – which were more along the lines of the signs being held by people. I attended a tea party in Maryland and I saw various races represented so I would love for one of these liberals to actually attend an event, speak to people, and then tell us what they think. I’m sure they would not make such slanderous and bigoted remarks if they perhaps knew what they were talking about. But as Reagan has said before: “It isn’t that liberals are ignorant, it’s just that they know so much that isn’t true.”
Please clue in Ms. Garofalo and let her know that making generalizations and speaking on behalf of race, and in particular blacks, as a white woman, is in fact, racist…
And just to answer your question Ms. Garofalo, many of us were upset about Bush and his spending habits and the way in which he grew government. There were already plenty of protesters against him and the war – that got way more attention that some simple tea party protesters. However, various bloggers and conservative forums were up in arms whenever he doled out more money and increased the size of the federal government. The issue came to a head after this past election though. Conservatives knew before November that Obama was a big government radical lefty who wanted a more centralized government and was going to increase spending when that is the opposite of what we should be doing right now. And just to make it fair, McCain would not have been much better… But, enough is enough in DC and on Wall Street and many of us regular “Joes” are tired of the Elite running this country into the ground. That’s what we are protesting and it doesn’t matter quite frankly if you are on the left or the right. It’s time to put the founding principles back to good use and put government back on the side of the people.
It’s too bad that Garofalo and other progressives don’t see that. It’s about the people and about the middle class – something that should concern you since we are the silent majority and the ones who pay taxes. What happens when we don’t have the means to pay them anymore? That’s why we are considered the “Forgotten Men and Women.”
Janeane Garofalo Will Get a Dose of Her Own Medicine Tonight
Three cheers for the Massachusetts conservatives who will show up at Janeane Garofalo’s act this evening! I can’t wait for the news tomorrow – especially the photos – I hope there will be a lot of people dressed as “tea-bagging rednecks!” I have heard that most of the tickets to her show were sold to these protesters – oh happy days!
Hey, Janeane Garofalo, how do you like your tea?
It’s been a few weeks since the outspoken comedian and actress (“24”) called tea party tax protesters racists, but she is still in hot water with some Bay Staters.
A group of steamed citizens led by conservative radio talk host Ken Pittman of New Bedford’s WBSM-AM plan to protest outside her gig tonight at the Somerville Theatre.
“She has exposed herself as a bigot,” Pittman said.
About 20 to 40 people are expected to show up, he said.
Garofalo sparked controversy when she criticized the protesters while on MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”
“You know, there’s nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of racists become confused and angry. . . . This is about hating a black man in the White House,” she said.
Garofalo, in town to perform in the Alternative Comedy Festival, declined the Herald’s request for an interview.
“She doesn’t really want to talk about that at all,” said Brian Joyce, director of the festival. “She is coming to Somerville to play a comedy festival, not talk politics.”
Pittman said, “I’m not going violate her act or inhibit her ability to earn a living. This is purely satirical, and anyone who is not coming with a sense of humor should not bother coming.”
Obama May Appear on American Idol!?
Although I stopped watching the show after the second round, this would give me an excuse to completely boycott the show.
I would boycott the show just for the simple fact that Obama should be leading this country not attempting to be the next Hollywood starlet. Where is the sense of maturity and decency? He was already the first President of the United States to make an appearance on the Late Show – now there is a possibility of him appearing on Idol? This is like a bad dream – a man who is on an incessant marketing and PR campaign – requiring adulation and reassurance from the masses in order to feel good about himself… <grabbing for the puke bucket>
The “American Idol” contestants have enough pressure dealing with the critiques of Randy, Kara, Paula and Simon – and if “Idol’s” harshest judge gets his way, they’ll be performing for President Obama.
“We would put out an invitation on a daily basis,” Simon Cowell told The Hollywood Reporter about “Idol’s” attempt to get the Commander in Chief to appear on the hit FOX show.
“I’d love him to come on, his wife to come on, kids to come on.” Simon said of the First Family. “I could only picture now what it would be like if he actually turned up.”
Adding, “He’s a rock star!”
Just when you think Democrats couldn’t sink any lower… Obamajaya?
This reminds me of American Dreamz
We know American Dreamz was trying to make fun of Bush and Cheney, but let’s get real here – Obama is the one doing this PR Media blitz incessantly.
An Inconvenient Film For an “Inconvenient Truth”
Gore is about to be featured in a new movie, but he’s not going to like it very much. Titled Not Evil Just Wrong: The True Cost of Global Warming Hysteria, the film presents a devastating account of the shaky foundations and hefty price of Mr. Gore’s brand of self-interested and hypocritical alarmism.
Created by the Irish film making duo of Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney — who made another excellent documentary about the “dark side of environmentalism” called Mine Your Own Business — Not Evil provides the perfect rebuttal to Mr. Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.
Despite being chock-a-block with inaccuracies and misrepresentations, Mr. Gore’s movie has frightened schoolchildren all over the world, driven the public policy debate, and garnered both an Academy Award and a Nobel Peace Prize for its star.
Not Evil — which is due to be released later this year — will appear at a crucial time. The world’s crisis-beset nations are due to meet in Copenhagen in November to concoct a new policy straitjacket to succeed the meddlesome but utterly failed Kyoto Accord. If global warming’s U.N.-based ringmasters have their way, this will lead to a slashing of industrial production in developed countries and to a huge extension of boondoggle redistributionist schemes to fund “green” technologies in developing countries.
Such policy represents a triple threat: it will destroy economic activity; it will cripple trade; and it will hurt the poorest the most. Nevertheless, President Obama appears to be on-board this ship of fools, having bought into the notion that there are net “green jobs” to be had from a massive increase in taxation and regulation of industrial activity.
The impact on Canada could be horrendous, and not merely on the oil sands, which have been targeted by environmental non-governmental organizations. This week, Environment Minister Jim Prentice admitted that Canada could be forced to adopt more draconian regulation if it is not to be hit by threatened U.S. carbon tariffs.
The truly astonishing feature of this policy fandango is that it will have little or no effect on the climate, the science of which is still only dimly understood. However, alarmists such as Mr. Gore have successfully sold the notion that the science is “settled.” This is just one of the claims to which Not Evil Just Wrong puts the lie.
Alternating credible skeptics with arresting imagery, the film makes clear that the science, far from being settled, has been comprehensively misrepresented by the likes of NASA’s James Hansen, who is to Al Gore and climatology what Trofim Lysenko was to Joseph Stalin and agronomy.
There is a wonderful scene of Mr. Hansen becoming almost discombobulated at the very mention of Stephen McIntyre, the maverick Canadian who, with the help of Guelph economist Ross McKitrick, took on the UN climate change establishment over the so-called “hockey stick” temperature graph, and won. Mr. Hansen claims that paying attention to such inconvenient truths amounts to just “clouding the issue.”
The film dramatically outlines the dreadful damage already done by environmental hysteria, in particular the millions of unnecessary deaths caused by the campaign against DDT. That campaign started with Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, which was at the root of the modern environmental movement in every sense. Despite the World Health Organization’s lifting of the DDT ban, Al Gore remains devoted to Ms. Carson’s memory. And methods. As Patrick Moore, one of the founders of Greenpeace but now a skeptic, points out, radical environmentalists “care more about fish eggs than they do about children.” Meanwhile kids are shown fretting about about imminent global inundation and the deaths of polar bears.
