Arlen Specter: Turncoat Extraordinaire

Arlen Specter made the announcement earlier today that he will switch party affiliation to Democrat instead of Republican.  To be honest, if we look at his record, this really shouldn’t come as a big surprise.  He may as well have been a liberal, instead of further corroding the Republican party, and blurring our message into some mushy version of Democrat-lite.

Arlen Specter is a man not of principle, but of self-promotion and personal gain.  He has lost sight of the true platforms of the Republican party and has become a representation of how out of touch the D.C. Politburo has become with the average citizen.

Due to political expediency and because Arlen couldn’t take a loss like a man, admit his wrongs, and experience a little humility (a good thing for every human being), he has rolled over to the other side so he has a better chance of winning the 2010 election.  I hope he BOMBS and bombs big time!  After Arlen saw how behind he was in the polls for a GOP primary versus Pat Toomey he quickly made his decision to be the low-life weasel that he is.

Specter told reporters that he received a “bleak” poll Friday from his advisers that showed virtually no chance of him winning in the GOP primary next spring against Pat Toomey, a former Republican House member who recently led the conservative Club for Growth.

He said that the loss of several hundred thousand GOP voters who left the party in 2008 to vote in the Democratic presidential primary left the Pennsylvania Republican Party too conservative to support a moderate such as him. “I have found myself increasingly at odds with the Republican Party,” Specter said.

Blame it on those conservatives Specter, don’t blame it on your record or your habit of going against the majority of your financially conservative constituents (most of the GOP) when voting on ridiculous legislation.  Since Specter has an issue with admitting his wrong and manning up, he certainly would fit in quite well with the rest of the finger pointers.

Arlen Specter never helped when it came to voting on bills such as the Porkulus, nor any other liberal legislation that was being rammed down our throats to increase government control and decrease our pocket-books.  However, this switch will certainly ensure a fillibuster proof senate with the addition of Franken.

The move brings Democrats to 59 seats in the Senate, just one shy of the 60 they need to exert filibuster-proof control over the chamber. In Minnesota, Democrat Al Franken holds a 312-vote lead over former senator Norm Coleman (R), but Coleman has appealed the result to the state Supreme Court. Oral arguments in the case are expected to begin in June.

Nonetheless, Specter remains an independent voice on many issues, opposing a union organizing bill that is key to many labor groups and rejecting Obama’s choice to run a key legal advisory section of the Justice Department. “I will not be an automatic 60th vote,” he said.

Sure Specter, sure… and let me also be the first to add here, that if the conservative base was so fringe and was being phased out like the moderates like to state, then why would he be so behind in the polls in the moderate state of Pennsylvania?  The quicker the moderates realize that remaining true to your core values and beliefs resonates the most with voters, the sooner we can get this country back on track and hopefully get the message through to others that being conservative has never been a bad thing, nor is it the propaganda that the left wing media and other liberal politicians like to spew forth as part of their intolerance, lies, immorality, and fear-mongering tactics.

Republicans immediately sought to cast Specter’s move as nothing more than the politics of self-preservation. “Let’s be honest — Senator Specter didn’t leave the GOP based on principles of any kind,” said Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. “He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record.”

Michael Steele is dead on in his analysis…

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Specter told him last night that he was likely to make the shift, then called the Democratic leader this morning to confirm that his decision was final. Reid credited Biden for playing an important behind-the-scenes role in softening Specter’s resistance. Reid also said he and Specter “have had a long dialogue about his place in an evolving Republican Party” and praised his willingness to “work in a bipartisan manner, put people over party, and do what is right for Pennsylvanians and all Americans.”

Is it ethical or legal for an Aministration member, especially the Vice President lobbying for senators to switch sides?

Specter will receive his seniority among Democrats as if he had been elected as a Democrat in 1980, when he rode into office on the coattails of Ronald Reagan’s conservative revolution. That effectively means Specter will become chairman of a key subcommittee on the Appropriations Committee, probably the one overseeing the departments of Labor and Health and Human Services. Specter also acknowledged that becoming full appropriations committee chairman — something that could take another six to 10 years — “is something I’d like to attain.”

It’s a shame that so many of these RINOs rode the coattails of Reagan, reaped the rewards and then spit in his face!

McConnell rejected Specter’s assertion that the Republican Party had shifted so far to the right that moderate lawmakers were no longer viable candidates in swing states. “This is not a national story. This is a Pennsylvania story,” McConnell said. He said Specter “came to our meeting and talked to us, indicated to me yesterday . . . and again this morning, that he didn’t have any problem whatsoever with the way he’d been treated by the Republican conference here in the Senate.”

Other moderate Republicans acknowledged they, too, have been approached about changing parties. Sen. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, the Maine Republicans who along with Specter provided the three pivotal votes for Obama’s $787 billion stimulus legislation, both said today they have been approached. Neither would comment about how recent the overtures were, although Collins said she has been asked roughly four times during her 12 years in the Senate to consider becoming a Democrat.

Again, Collins or Snowe wouldn’t be big losses with regard to their voting records, but it is shocking to me that various members of congress have been asked to switch sides… I’m probably just naive and this happens all the time but that just sounds wrong to me.

Let’s also not forget that Specter was asked if he was a Democrat in March of this year and he denied it:

How could anyone with morals, ethics, or character trust a guy who switches sides and lies, but the idiotic electorate probably will…  I can’t handle much more of this insanity.

Obama Requests $83.4B More in War Funds and Will Stay in Iraq; But I Thought He Was Anti-War?

Obama has continued to state that he was going to pull out of Iraq, that he did not believe in “dumb” wars. He also stated that he was opposed to the surge in 2007 and thought it would make things worse, but in 2008 stated that he was for the surge. Obama said he had a plan to get the troops out of Iraq by March 2008 – that obviously did not happen – but he said he had a plan that would then get them out some time in 2009.

New reports from the White House state that Obama will plan to keep the troops in Iraq for another year until August 2010 - and there is now an agreement with Iraqi’s that state all troops must be gone by 2011.  Will we hear the anti-war crowd who voted for Obama under the impression that he was anti-war or at least anti-Iraqi Freedom?  At least those women in Code Pink who I disagree with stand by their principles along with Cindy Sheehan who are in an uproar over this.  They are radical but at least they aren’t hypocrites when it comes to their stances.

Obama has voted continuously for funding for both Afghanistan and Iraq. So how can he be against a war and vote to continue funding it?

Obama continues to flip-flop on all of his funding, war and defense positions.

He is requesting an additional $83.4 billion for BOTH wars. And here is his voting record on war funding:

Update: Madonna Denied; The Bully of Adoptions; Madonna

UPDATE:

A judge has rejected Madonna’s request to adopt a second child from Malawi because of a requirement that prospective parents live in the southern African nation for at least 18 months, another judge and a lawyer said Friday.

The judge who confirmed the decision did not make the ruling, but saw it. The lawyer was present when the ruling was made. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Madonna’s efforts to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James had drawn criticism from some activists who said the little girl would be best off with relatives.

Some believe that Madonna was denied due to the way in which she came into the country on her high flying jet, wearing her designer clothes and her attitude.  While others argue that it may have been due to her recent divorce or just the simple fact that Mercy’s remaining family love her and don’t want her to be taken from them… Either way, Madonna got denied – however, as one would suspect, she is appealing.

ORIGINAL:

The hateful hypocritical left can be exemplified in the words and actions of Madonna.  The singer, who late last year, made up a hateful, ignorant song about Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Madonna only seems to have time to run her mouth, eat a macro-biotic diet and be a mean, less than spiritual, human being who puts their wants and needs before anyone else’s.  What’s new with the rich elites?

For some time, I have also wanted to add, that I recently competed in a figure competition which is similar to body building but at a natural and much more feminine level.  I was on a macro-biotic diet to get as lean as possible – and I was one helluva B**ch!  Just some food for thought when it comes to all these dieters in Hollyweird, who are so empty and hollow that they fill their lives with inane routines and superficial baubles and from time to time, those like Madonna, will also believe in a made up religion like Kaballah.  I really do feel bad for some of these celebrities and wish they could just find a way to truly fill the emptiness within them…

Madonna goes about filling this emptiness through adoptions.  However, she adopts from other countries, when there are hundreds of thousands of children in the United States that need a home.  It is sickening to me that these celebrities are now treating these international adoptions as a trend like the latest Fendi purse, because it’s what they want – maybe not what the family of the child or the child him/herself wants.

Obama Receives Donation for Congressional Seat from a Bailout Executive in December 2008!?

Where is the outcry and the outrage?  Shouldn’t this be a conflict of interest?  Shouldn’t this donation be treated much the same as those AIG bonuses?  That’s taxpayer money in the hands of that executive and his “donation” is going towards Obama.

A top executive of a Wall Street firm that had received federal bailout money was among the donors who contributed to President Obama’s 2010 Senate re-election campaign after he resigned his Illinois seat, the Washington Times reported.

Bruce A. Heyman, managing director at Goldman Sachs, which received a $10 billion bailout last year, donated a maximum $2,300 to the Obama 2010 fund the day after Christmas, the newspaper reported.

In all, the fund received four contributions totaling $4,800 on Dec. 26, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

Obama formally left the Senate on Nov. 16 and had a surplus in his Senate campaign treasury, making the donations unusual but not illegal.

Federal election law allows Obama and five other former members of Congress now serving in his Cabinet or the White House to retain congressional campaign funds for years and spend the money for any political purpose, even if they don’t plan to run for Congress again.

Very Fishy Mr. Obama…
Obama Baloney

Candidate Obama Vs. President Obama

What a sham…WOW…I mean shame.
