Obama gave a 6,000 word speech today in Cairo in which he continued to lay blame on America and pander to the Muslim world. Obama seems to think that the rest of the world poops out muffins and dumplings and everything is A-OK! Hey! Obama even grew a little mustache for the event to show the Muslim world just how much he loved them!

Some excerpts from his recent speech:

The entire speech found here.

We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world — tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate. The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of co-existence and cooperation, but also conflict and religious wars. More recently, tension has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were too often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations. Moreover, the sweeping change brought by modernity and globalization led many Muslims to view the West as hostile to the traditions of Islam.

Here is where the blame America tour begins – it was our fault – we instigated it all – although Muslims and Islam have been around much longer than the United States… but of course the cold war started everything/sarc.

Violent extremists have exploited these tensions in a small but potent minority of Muslims. The attacks of September 11th, 2001 and the continued efforts of these extremists to engage in violence against civilians has led some in my country to view Islam as inevitably hostile not only to America and Western countries, but also to human rights. This has bred more fear and mistrust.

That “minority” seems to be growing – shucks, we even have our own home-grown terrorists now, one of which just recently killed a recruiting officer who was only 23 years old, this week in Arkansas.

How about the recent beheading of Ed Dryer, a British gentleman in Africa who was kidnapped by Al-Qaeda at a music festival. The minority is growing Obama – it’s time you wake up!

I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles — principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

Tolerance and dignity of all human beings (let me finish the sentence) except for WOMEN! what tolerance has the Muslim world shown women who are made to cover their faces/hair and wear burkas? What tolerance does Saudi Arabia show women who are not allowed to make eye contact or drive cars? What tolerance did Afghanistan show when flogging a woman recently? What tolerance was shown by the Saudis who tried to enforce a teenage girl to marry a man over 50 years old? His entire statement, comparing the West to the Islamic culture is insane and irrational!

I do so recognizing that change cannot happen overnight. No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust, nor can I answer in the time that I have all the complex questions that brought us to this point. But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors. There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other; to learn from each other; to respect one another; and to seek common ground. As the Holy Koran tells us, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.” That is what I will try to do — to speak the truth as best I can, humbled by the task before us, and firm in my belief that the interests we share as human beings are far more powerful than the forces that drive us apart.

I’m glad that he can freely quote the Koran but must avoid prayer day, going to church, exclaiming we are a Judeo-christian nation, and reading quotes from the bible – in order to not deeply offend the Muslims – this man has no dignity, principles, or character – he’s a chameleon.

As a student of history, I also know civilization’s debt to Islam. It was Islam — at places like Al-AzharUniversity — that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe’s Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.

I thought he was a law student? Not a student of history and from his statement it seems to me he didn’t do all that well in history. I’m sure the Europeans were ecstatic that the Muslims came through torturing and murdering women and children during the crusades to influence their land. I lived in Spain and actually visited Andalucia (Andalusia in English) – spending a whole day in Granada and wandering through Alhambra and learning about it and how it came to be. There is a ton of Muslim architecture in Southern Spain and believe me – it is not forgotten what occurred when they came through… I’m sure the Spanish were incredibly grateful and feel in-debted to Islam when they learned how to make candle stick holders out of baby skulls. And just to be fair here – I also visited the torture museum in Spain which showed all the utensils used during the Inquisition – that was inappropriate as well but for years religions and cultures have instigated one another. (I would also like to add that after visiting the torture museum waterboarding does not bother me in the least – it’s like eating tea and crumpets compared to what used to be done to people).

Much has been made of the fact that an African-American with the name Barack Hussein Obama could be elected President. But my personal story is not so unique. The dream of opportunity for all people has not come true for everyone in America, but its promise exists for all who come to our shores — that includes nearly seven million American Muslims in our country today who enjoy incomes and education that are higher than average.

This is where he talks about himself… AGAIN and then falsely claims that the American Dream can be reached by average citizens, however, he forgets to tell them that he has recently made that Dream much harder to realize with his interventionist/totalitarian policies.

In Ankara, I made clear that America is not — and never will be — at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children. And it is my first duty as President to protect the American people.

What!? is that why our military has been deployed over in Iraq and more so in Afghanistan now? CAN-NOT-COMPUTE…

We also know that military power alone is not going to solve the problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan. That is why we plan to invest $1.5 billion each year over the next five years to partner with Pakistanis to build schools and hospitals, roads and businesses, and hundreds of millions to help those who have been displaced. And that is why we are providing more than $2.8 billion to help Afghans develop their economy and deliver services that people depend upon.

But, but, but I thought our country was broke Barack? That’s what you just said in your interview a couple weeks ago before your 24K+ date with Michelle Mabelle. Our country is in fact broke as evidenced by the laughing stock that Geithner was in China when he said that the U.S. was a reliable investment.

That is why we will honor our agreement with Iraq’s democratically-elected government to remove combat troops from Iraqi cities by July, and to remove all our troops from Iraq by 2012.

BWHAHAHA – anyone notice how his timeline keeps going out longer and longer? Cries from all the peacenik liberals? in 3…2…1 j/k

I know there has been controversy about the promotion of democracy in recent years, and much of this controversy is connected to the war in Iraq. So let me be clear: no system of government can or should be imposed upon one nation by any other.

I don’t think that’s what the Muslims wanted to hear and certainly not the Islamofascists who want to enforce Sharia Law onto any and all countries.

This last point is important because there are some who advocate for democracy only when they are out of power; once in power, they are ruthless in suppressing the rights of others. No matter where it takes hold, government of the people and by the people sets a single standard for all who hold power: you must maintain your power through consent, not coercion; you must respect the rights of minorities, and participate with a spirit of tolerance and compromise; you must place the interests of your people and the legitimate workings of the political process above your party. Without these ingredients, elections alone do not make true democracy.

I’m sure Hosni Mubarak was very happy about Obama discussing democracy! Then again Obama did invite 10 Muslim Brotherhood members to his speech in Cairo today.

Read the excerpt on the Muslim Brotherhood.

Ed Morrissey has a more positive take and writes: “I don’t hear anything in this speech that Bush didn’t say himself.”

Er, that’s the problem. For all the hype about fresh starts and new beginnings, Obama embraces the same blind dhimmitude that plagued the Bush administration and foggy-headed bureaucrats that infect Foggy Bottom.

***

President Obama mentioned the “trauma” of the September 11 jihadi attacks in his speech. Here’s another reality check. Flashback, September 12, 2008, The Blame America poll and the Blame America candidate:

A poll released this week of more than 16,000 people in 17 nations revealed that “majorities in only nine countries believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks on New York and Washington that killed about 3,000 people in 2001.” A mere 46% of individuals overall said they believed al Qaeda executed the attacks – despite all the back-patting, fist-pumping video productions from AQ’s media arm, as-Sahab, claiming credit.

…Seven years after Mohammed Atta, Hani Hanjour, and their Allahu Akbar-screaming team succeeded in slaughtering nearly 3,000 innocent men, women, and children, large numbers of our putative allies in the civilized world are still blaming America and Israel.

“Israel was behind the attacks, said 43 percent of people in Egypt, 31 percent in Jordan and 19 percent in the Palestinian Territories,” the survey found. “The U.S. government was blamed by 36 percent of Turks and 27 percent of Palestinians.” The pollsters noted that no prompting was necessary: “These responses were given spontaneously to an open-ended question that did not offer response options.”

Among our great friends south of the border, Mexico boasted “the second-largest number citing the US government as the perpetrator of 9/11 (30%, after Turkey at 36%). Only 33 percent name al Qaeda.” Which, of course, is no shock to those who remember when the U.S. soccer team was taunted with chants of“Osama! Osama! Osama!” after a match in Guadalajara four years ago; or when the team was booed again in 2005 and plastic bags filled with urine were reportedly tossed on American players.

They hate us. They still really, really hate us. And it is not all about Iraq. As a Mexican soccer fan told the Christian Science Monitor: “‘Every schoolboy knows about 1848. . . . When they robbed our territory,’ referring to when Texas, California and New Mexico were annexed to the U.S. as part of a peace treaty ending the war between the two countries, ‘that was the beginning.’”

Not coincidentally, another world opinion poll was released this week that dovetails with the 9/11 survey. While the global community refuses to unite against al Qaeda as a common enemy to humanity, it has decided on who should be America’s next president. The BBC-commissioned poll named Barack Obama the world’s favorite candidate by an overwhelming margin of four to one. They see in their fellow “citizen of the world” a kindred spirit:

Someone whose former spiritual mentor shares the European elite’s “chickens coming home to roost” schadenfreude. Someone who has promoted the need for “empathy” toward the head-chopping jihadists. Someone who shares their fetishizing of terrorists as poor victims of imperialism in need more “understanding” and “education.” Someone who cynically hawks “Buy American” campaign stickers while courting the “Blame America” Left at home and abroad.

Obama is their man. Never forget.

Nor should we forget his avoidance of his Muslim heritage, which he now touts to the Muslim world as common ground and a valid reason to listen to him… Why was he so afraid of it before? So take for example some of his words and compare that to what was disclosed/said during his campaign and ask yourself, how many times can a man spin and lie before you no longer trust him? I know that I never trusted him after the Jeremiah Wright business – I have no respect for those who constantly throw people under the bus and omit facts or spin them.

As Barack Obama sends his message to the Muslim world, it’s fascinating to compare his statements, and those of his staff, with things he said during the presidential campaign. In his speech this morning, he said:

I am a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims. As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaanat the break of dawn and the fall of dusk. As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith.

While the president was a little vague about his father’s religion, in a briefing before the speech, national security aide Denis McDonough was a bit more explicit:

I think the fact is, that the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to — or before he’s been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world — you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father — obviously Muslim Americans [are] a key part of Illinois and Chicago.

Contrast those statements to remarks Obama made to a Jewish organization in Cleveland in February 2008:

My grandfather, who was Kenyan, converted to Christianity, then converted to Islam. My father never practiced; he was basically agnostic. So, other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for four years when I was a child, I have very little connection to the Islamic religion.

If we are to heed any recent statements maybe we should be forewarned by, of all people, Hugo Chavez who stated that if he and Fidel aren’t careful, they will actually be conservative/towards he right compared to Obama. Even those two didn’t move as fast nationalizing private industry as Barack Obama has!

The Israeli’s are super-excited about Obama’s policies and his pandering to the Muslim world. To show their excitement they have created posters!

The liberal argument is basically about standards, if you dont’ have any you can’t be held accountable, so needless to say, those that stand on principles will incessantly get harassed by the media and the activists, waiting for the slightest mistake.

Carrie Prejean took photos for a modeling shoot, just as many other females have, who try to get into a career that pertains to beauty and looks. I think the photos were actually very tasteful and they didn’t show any private body parts nor was she ever fully undressed. I’m not sure where liberals get off trying to publicly galvanize this woman just for doing a photo shoot to get ahead in her field. Kathy Ireland is a conservative and incredibly religious for that matter, but nobody made a stink when she was all over the covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. What about all those other celebrities that actually undress themselves and literally pose nude on the cover of Maxim, Playboy, etc.? It’s ok because they don’t profess to be spiritual or believe in God? If that’s the case I feel very sorry for those individuals. They are truly missing out on a wonderful aspect of life that fills many voids I currently see in today’s society.

What amuses me most is the fact that liberals never catch onto the fact that Christian conservatives do not claim to be perfect, in fact it is quite the opposite. We are trying to be more God-like and live a life similar to that of the apostle Paul (if I could choose an example). Jesus believed in redemption and treated those who had fallen away and sinned, but came back, as his children. The prodigal sons and daughters were always the closest to the heart of Jesus. The only perfect entity in this world is God and it is us mere mortals who attempt to emulate as best we can his teachings, although we know we fall way short. The only people who have difficulty understanding this concept are those who are either averse to the truth or fear that there may really be some higher power greater than themselves and their ideology.

I was happy to hear that earlier today Donald Trumpmade a statement that dropped the “charges” against Carrie Prejean and she was “allowed” to keep her title as Miss California. I hope she continues to be a champion of the 1st amendment and speaks her mind in a very mature and inviting way. She deserves to be herself and believe in the things she does without being lambasted by those who feel differently. Donald Trump made the ironic remark that “We are living in the 21st century…” basically telling all the critics to get a life and get real. This is America, we are all allowed to have our own opinions, let’s hope that we never lose that. Freedom is not free…

Oh and liberals… are you going to go after Obambi for his opinion that marriage is only between one man and one woman? —— Crickets…

Carrie, yet again, spoke very well during the press conference today, and here is the part that made me choke up… because of the truth in her words!

Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate’s two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

“I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember,” said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.

The bill seeks to recognize “the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions” that Islam and the Islamic world have made. It does not call for any spending or organized celebration of Islam Day.

But Republican Sen. Sam Slom argued that the United States has become too sympathetic toward Islamic extremists.

I wonder if Linda Lingle will sign this into law… ugh… probably.

The day of Sept. 24, 2009 is a little too close to 9/11 for me. I’m a little uncomfortable recognizing “Islam Day” because many in the Middle East (if you have seen their propaganda or listened to their speeches translated) are still calling for the destruction of the great Evil, the West, and most notably the United States and the extermination of Israel… but we should recognize Islam Day in September. Why don’t we have a Christian Day or a Catholic Day? Why don’t the atheists protest Islam? It is a religion!

I’m sure Pamela Geller has several opinions on this… www.atlasshrugs.com

Pro-Life Harvard Law professor (I didn’t know they had those at Harvard!), Ann Glendon, was to appear at Notre Dame to accept the Laetare Medal for recognition of outstanding service to the Roman Catholic church and society. She was to give a speech upon receiving the medal, but Obama’s invitation to speak at the school on the same day seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and Ann Glendon has declined.

Here is her letter:

April 27, 2009
The Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.
President
University of Notre Dame

Dear Father Jenkins,

When you informed me in December 2008 that I had been selected to receive Notre Dame’s Laetare Medal, I was profoundly moved. I treasure the memory of receiving an honorary degree from Notre Dame in 1996, and I have always felt honored that the commencement speech I gave that year was included in the anthology of Notre Dame’s most memorable commencement speeches. So I immediately began working on an acceptance speech that I hoped would be worthy of the occasion, of the honor of the medal, and of your students and faculty.

Last month, when you called to tell me that the commencement speech was to be given by President Obama, I mentioned to you that I would have to rewrite my speech. Over the ensuing weeks, the task that once seemed so delightful has been complicated by a number of factors.

First, as a longtime consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, I could not help but be dismayed by the news that Notre Dame also planned to award the president an honorary degree. This, as you must know, was in disregard of the U.S. bishops’ express request of 2004 that Catholic institutions “should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles” and that such persons “should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.” That request, which in no way seeks to control or interfere with an institution’s freedom to invite and engage in serious debate with whomever it wishes, seems to me so reasonable that I am at a loss to understand why a Catholic university should disrespect it.

Then I learned that “talking points” issued by Notre Dame in response to widespread criticism of its decision included two statements implying that my acceptance speech would somehow balance the event:

• “President Obama won’t be doing all the talking. Mary Ann Glendon, the former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, will be speaking as the recipient of the Laetare Medal.”

• “We think having the president come to Notre Dame, see our graduates, meet our leaders, and hear a talk from Mary Ann Glendon is a good thing for the president and for the causes we care about.”

A commencement, however, is supposed to be a joyous day for the graduates and their families. It is not the right place, nor is a brief acceptance speech the right vehicle, for engagement with the very serious problems raised by Notre Dame’s decision—in disregard of the settled position of the U.S. bishops—to honor a prominent and uncompromising opponent of the Church’s position on issues involving fundamental principles of justice.

Finally, with recent news reports that other Catholic schools are similarly choosing to disregard the bishops’ guidelines, I am concerned that Notre Dame’s example could have an unfortunate ripple effect.

It is with great sadness, therefore, that I have concluded that I cannot accept the Laetare Medal or participate in the May 17 graduation ceremony.

In order to avoid the inevitable speculation about the reasons for my decision, I will release this letter to the press, but I do not plan to make any further comment on the matter at this time.

Yours Very Truly,

Mary Ann Glendon

Ann, I wouldn’t really appreciate being used as a pawn or an excuse for Notre Dame to go against its doctrines and the oath it took on behalf of the Church. I would back out if I also felt like I was being used without my consent. I also think that it is very valiant of Ann to stand on principle and not back down from her convictions.

Ann Glendon served as US Ambassador to the Vatican from 2007 to 2009.

Liberals have been protesting speakers for a very long time so I don’t want to hear anything from them when it comes to double standards (examples such as Tancredo, Rick Warren, Ann Coulter, Karl Rove, and so on and so forth).

What is wrong with our country? You can’t have an opinion any longer if it is a conservative or Christian viewpoint? Your opinion must coincide with these gay bigoted activists? Your opinion must be liberal in order to be acceptable? People are now required to toss their principles aside to appease others? How is this freedom of speech and how is what the Miss America Pageant did and Perez Hilton said not considered discriminatory?

Good for Carrie PreJean, Miss California, she should be allowed to state her opinions when answering a question and not kowtow to please the judges or anyone else for that matter! She is allowed to believe and speak whatever she feels is right.

This reminds me of getting graded poorly on a paper, not because it wasn’t well-written or because it didn’t have substance, but rather because the substance did not coincide and agree with the professor’s beliefs.

What Perez Hilton did in that video clip is the prime example of the Left’s hypocrisy and double standards. They force everyone else to agree with them – how is that freedom? Miss California even said “no offense to anyone who disagrees” – she actually said that it was great we live in a country that allows us to have a choice and to decide – she never said she wanted to force her beliefs on Perez or any other person that is for gay marriage. But leave it to some gay activist who becomes seemingly fascist in their rants to want to do the exact opposite.

Perez Hilton’s only claim to fame is being a hateful, prejudiced wench, making money off the embarrassment and folly of others.

And why would the Pageant even allow these types of politically charged, controversial questions to be asked? I’m waiting for a conservative question to be asked at one of these things and I personally doubt that will ever happen. How sad is that?

A real showing of tolerance from the gay gentleman who is a part of the liberal party, professing to be tolerant of everyone. Except of course those who may have a different opinion. Of course the hypocrisy and irony of this is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and can protest publicly or state it publicly if they so choose. You may not agree with Christians or Catholics and their stand against same sex marriage, but you have to allow them their own opinion and the freedom of speech as well. The only way to get your point across is civil debate and discourse, but as I am finding out more and more, the only method that the liberals know how to use is the method of “shut-uppery.” They, in essence, look like fools and never get their message across properly and only make things worse.

Take for example the protests during the Prop. 8 fiasco this past November and the vandalism and violence by gay activists, where an elderly woman was shouted down and her cross taken from her and stomped upon in Florida. Or a church in Michigan that had gay activists come in and tear up bibles and throw things around to disrupt a service. This is unfortunately, making their cause less valid because people who once were for acceptance are against itm based on the fact that they are so hateful, intolerant and are full of bigotry themselves, they just seem to have an incredible inability to look in a mirror.

What scares me about this act is not so much the fact that Christianity is under attack (which I believe it is to some extent), but the blatant narcissism attached to this request. Obama cannot share the stage with the name or a symbol of Jesus appearing before him? This should be eerily similar to any narcissistic statists and socialists in history. I remember one particular leader who went after religion and also took down all religious symbols and replaced them with pagan symbols only to turn it into eventual self worship, believing he was a deity in his own right. This is just plain eerie. Cue my tin-foil hat!

Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”–symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ—because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.

“In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday’s event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage,” Julie Green Bataille, associate vice president for communications at Georgetown, told CNSNews.com.

“The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches,” she added. “Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.”

The only thing to be taken out of context in Obama’s mind would be those in the audience not worshiping him and still being aware of a real God on stage (not him).

Obama, never mentioned Jesus specifically in his address to the student body.

The President used the Sermon on the Mount in his speech and also attempted to quote Matthew 7, but he did so incorrectly when he referred to building our lives on the rock of government. The rock in which Christians are to build their lives is Jesus and nothing else. The sheer fact that he feels government can be substituted for Jesus should prove to any independent thinker that this man believes government to be God and therefore he is a narcissistic statist believing he, himself, being in the most powerful position in the government, is in fact God.

We have clear language in the 1st Amendment that states that we are allowed freedom of religion not freedom FROM religion.

No university cemented in religious principles should give up their beliefs and the very foundation it was established upon to appease a government official.

How can anyone argue the fact that the ridiculous and unnecessary request made by Obama was anything but either shame or contempt for Christianity?

The left’s inability to grasp the real meaning behind “separation of church and state,” boggles the mind. The separation means that no state institution can force you to believe or practice a certain religion or force a religion upon you. It does mean that you are allowed to worship whatever deity you see fit. The government can be religious, it just can’t tell you how to be religious.

By taking down the symbol they are in fact the hypocrites in this scenario because they are telling a school what religion it should reflect and by forcing it to take down the predominant IHS symbol where Obama spoke, they are offending Christians (who have just as much right to believe what they do as atheists and agnostics), and they are telling an institution what to do and how to do it in regard to their very own faith. If any of the audience was offended by the IHS symbol one would think they would not have applied to a Jesuit school in the first place.

If this isn’t sweet justice, then I don’t know what is – but I sure do love Happy Endings!

The Vatican has blocked the appointment of Caroline Kennedy as US ambassador, according to reports.

Vatican sources told Il Giornale that their support for abortion disqualified Ms Kennedy and other Roman Catholics President Barack Obama had been seeking to appoint.

Mr Obama was reportedly seeking to reward John F Kennedy’s daughter, who publicly gave her support to his election bid. She had been poised to replace Hillary Clinton as New York senator, but dropped out amid criticism that she lacked enough experience for the job.

I guess the Pope, like you know, like figured out, that like Caroline, and like the rest of you know, the Kennedy clan, was like you know, anything but like pro-life or like remotely Catholic you know.

The Italian paper said that the Vatican strongly disapproved of Mr Obama’s support for abortion and stem cell research. The impasse over the ambassadorial appointment threatens to cloud his meeting with the Pope during a G8 summit in Itay in July.

Ms Kennedy, 53, has said that she supports abortion. Raymond Flynn, a former US ambassador to the Vatican, said earlier this week that Ms Kennedy would be a poor choice.

“It’s imperative, it’s essential that the person who represents us to the Holy See be a person who has pro-life values. I hope the President doesn’t make that mistake,” he told the Boston Herald. “She said she was pro-choice. I don’t assume she’s going to change that, which is problematic.”

The White House refused to comment.

Good for the Pope and the Catholic Church. You may not agree with the pro-life stance, but a religion shouldn’t have to kowtow to a political agenda or ideology. As I learned in International Business in undergrad – if you are conducting business or negotiating with a business overseas you should know their culture and respect it – same goes for the Catholic Church.
I’m not sure if Obama and his Administration are just that incompetent or just deliberately doing this to demean the Catholic religion. I tend to lean towards the latter – which is why I’m glad the Pope is holding his own.

Since this report is coming out of the U.K. I’m curious to know whether or not the rest of the MSM will report on this, besides Fox News.

The Pope’s latest sentiments and words help me to know that I am not alone in my assumptions that secularism is on the rise in the West, especially in the United States, since I am not privy to the events currently going on in Europe. However, I certainly suspect the same thing exists there as well – if not more so than in the U.S.

I couldn’t understand how people could not see through the rhetoric, lies, and falsehoods of Obama during last year’s election. It was obvious through is connections, relationships and political history that he was not a decent, caring individual – and I feared for our country and the future if he did get into office. On the opposite end you had a war hero, and a woman of great integrity and faith, who came from humble beginnings and worked her way up without the help of the “establishment.”

Religion is under attack, as Pete recently posted. Those who practice what they preach and have a pure heart were mocked and ridiculed last year by the media and those on the left. Their fear-mongering and propaganda really affected various people, sucked in by the fraudulent reporting. Mormon churches were vandalized and an elderly woman was beaten because of proposition 8 disagreements. Nevermind the fact that the reason Prop. 8 did not go the way the gay activists wanted in California, had more to do with the minority vote (blacks and hispanics voting for Obama), than the Mormons or any other religions faction. Minorities are incredibly religious and socially conservative on the whole. Barack Obama, himself, has stated that he does not believe in homosexual marriage, however, gay protesters violently attacked those of faith and their places of worship.

I have never seen such hatred and absolute vileness come out of people. It’s as if the “light” scares them. Truth does hurt, and those who represent values that these people have either been made to fear based on false reports, propaganda or through their own fallacious assumptions, can only act out through hate and disgust – because they may find some truth in themselves that they have not been able to come to grips with. It’s incredibly sad and pathetic how hollow and superficial progressives have become. It must be extremely lonely having a hole in your heart that wide to not know what it’s like to have faith or to know a God of some sort.

Pope Benedict XVI last night attacked the rise of aggressive secularism in Western societies, warning them that they risked drifting into a ‘desert of godlessness’.

He used his Good Friday meditations to compare deliberate attempts to remove religion from public life to the mockery of Jesus Christ by the mob as he was led out to be crucified.

‘Religious sentiments’ were increasingly ranked among the ‘unwelcome leftovers of antiquity’ and ‘held up to scorn and ridicule’, he added.

‘We are shocked to see to what levels of brutality human beings can sink,’ said the Pope at an evening ceremony at the Coliseum in Rome.

‘Jesus is humiliated in new ways even today when things that are most holy and profound in the faith are being trivialised, the sense of the sacred is allowed to erode.

‘Values and norms that held societies together and drew people to higher ideals are laughed at and thrown overboard. Jesus continues to be ridiculed.’

The German-born Pope, who turns 82 later this month, prayed Christians would respond by growing in faith.

‘May we never question or mock serious things in life like a cynic,’ he added. He also condemned the oppression of women, saying there were ‘many societies in the world where women fail to receive a fair deal.’

‘Christ must be weeping for them,’ he said.

It makes me think that the Pope may have been watching our elections in the states…among other incidents in the world.
