Bipartisanship Over And Out!

This week President Obama has pretty much slammed the door on getting any cooperation from the Republican Party (less Collins and Snowe of course – true RINO’s). This week, the administration has set forth, yet again, to squash any attempt by the Republican side of the aisle to vet and control any of the President’s social engineering and lax national security agenda items.

Early this past week, on the issue of Bush administration terrorist interrogations, the administration coyly announced that they were in favor of moving on and looking to the future.

“As a general deal, I think that we should be looking forward and not backwards,” he said. “I do worry about this getting so politicized that we cannot function effectively, and it hampers our ability to carry out national security operations.”

President Obama is not all that worried about it, as he has already dismantled many safeguards that President Bush put into place that have kept the nation safe for 8 years.

However, in the next breath, the President said he would leave it up the the U.S. AG, Mr Holder, caving into the left wing fringe of Moveon.org and George Soros.

Second, came the announcement that the President, Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi will once again railroad the people of the United States by shoving a health care reform measure down our throats with no debate or filibuster:

If the coffin needs a final nail, it will come if Democrats decide to fast-track Obama’s legislative priorities through a budget maneuver known as “reconciliation.”

Democrats in the House and Senate agreed Friday on a budget framework that would protect Obama’s health care plan from a Republican filibuster using the tactic.

Republicans and some Democrats oppose reconciliation because it would prevent a long debate on what they consider complex issues.

If that is what the Obama Administration refers to as ‘transparent’ government, then I guess the Mississippi River is as clear as the Caribbean Sea. This is social engineering being plied to and paid for by the American Tax Payer.

Social, economic, and national security issues are being debated by elitists who have not gotten dirt under their fingernails since they were 7 years old playing in the back yard.  They, many who have no experience in either the defense industry or the military, are making decisions regarding enhanced interrogation techniques.  The issues specific to interrogations and national security were vetted and approved by lawyers, congressional leaders (Nancy Pelosi included), and administration officials. However, the Dems, Moveon.org, and Soros are foaming at the mouth to begin their witch hunt.

Democrats have focused their laser on Federal Judge Jay Bybee.  Judge Bybee was one of the lawyers who approved the enhanced interrogation techniques.  Democrats wanting to criminalize lawyers who give legal opinion on administration policy is  absolute nonsense.  What lawyer in their right mind is going to do anything for an administration if 5 or 8 years later some hell-bent blow-hard Senator (Leahy) wants to make a big media splash to keep his funding from Soros and Moveon.org going? The answer: no one worth his salt. We will never get a valued A.G. or White House council again (not that the dems have produced any decent A.G.’s….I mean Janet Reno, Eric Holder…puh-leeze).

It will also further erode our ability to gather pertinant intelligence about terror plots and organizations. These groups will now be able to train for what the Army field manual specifies, since it is a general unclassified publication. These actions will further put doubts into the minds of DoD personnel charged with gathering the intel as to what may be laying ahead if they proceed with interrogations. They will be scared and it will further embolden an enemy who’s main objective is to kill Americans.

Finally, it will so polarize the congress that nothing is ever going to get accomplished. I guess what the Democrats meant by reaching across the aisle was ”shut up, we won.”  The country will not stand for this, as demonstrated on April, 15th.  These liberals are digging themselves a hole and just may see some wholesale changes in the Congress come 2010; one can hope.

Is Alaska becoming the New Maine?

Gov Sarah Palin exploded onto the national stage in the 2008 election cycle to the joy of conservatives and the shagrin of liberals and the liberal main stream media.  All of a sudden Alaska was on the map and the national stage. However, since then, liberal Democrats and even members of her own party, have continually fought her tooth and nail since her nomination to the Republican Ticket as VP.

A while back it was the Supreme Court nomination process. The AK process is different as a committee chooses prospective nominees for consideration, of whom the Gov picks one of those.

Last week the legislature failed to confirm her nomination for State AG. In a clearly partisain vote, this is the same legislature who just last year passed a citation honoring Mr Ross-

Palin said the “hypocrisy” is that the state House last year unanimously passed a citation praising Ross as a distinguished Alaskan and a vocal proponent of free speech whose career has been dedicated to defending individual rights.

The hypocrisy there is quite glaring. I believe they need to be called out on that,” Palin said. The legislature passed the citation to honor Ross’ 65 birthday.

This month it is the AK Natural Gas Pipe Line. First the legislature seems to be upset that the Gov has not traveled to their office to get a personal update on the project. This on the heels of a scathing and extremely biased report in a Portfolio.com story full of rhetoric akin to the Tea Party rhetoric from the left last week.

It gives the appearance that AK has little interest in jumping onto the national stage and moving out of the shadows as a place where they could have real input on national energy policy. From down here in the lower 48, it seems that there are a lot of people bent on either making name for themselves by attacking a prominent figure in American politics today, or simply to snipe her or bring about frivolous allegations designed to derail what could be a move to the White House.

NY Congressional Race: Dem’s Block Military Ballots from Overseas

Democrats on the state elections board blocked GOP attempts to allow overseas military voting in the special election. Overseas ballots take weeks to reach voters and be returned unless special measures are taken to speed things up. But the elections officials refused to do anything to speed things up, or mail the ballots out early enough. The result is that perhaps 90 percent of the ballots will be tossed in the trash without ever being counted (Military ballots are cast mostly for Republican candidates).

The exclusion of these ballots violates a federal law known as UOCAVA, but the Justice Department filed only a “Potemkin Village” lawsuit in response, seeking a brief, cosmetic extension of time for returning the ballots — an extension that will result in only a handful of the wrongfully-excluded military ballots being counted. The Justice Department could easily have sought and obtained broader, more meaningful relief, as it did on several occasions during the Bush Administration. But it didn’t want to, for partisan political reasons.

So much for Obama’s campaign promise to defend the right of every American to vote (Obama’s Justice Department is also not interested in protecting the voting rights of white people denied the right to vote by black political bosses in predominantly-black counties).

This is just one facet of the continuing politicization of the Justice Department, which is now blessing unconstitutional bills that even liberal legal scholars admit violate the plain language of the Constitution.

So as usual, the “transparency” of the Democrats is as clear as Mississippi River water. The old motto win at any cost, even the at the expense of our Constitution. Where is the ACLU now? Oh yeah, that would benefit a conservative Republican candidate….

AP- Gov Palin Fund Raising For Sen Murkowski

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to raise money for U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s re-election campaign, a move Palin’s camp says should end speculation the governor is eyeing the senator’s seat.

Palin is expected to hold at least one fundraiser for Murkowski. Both are Republicans.

Meghan Stapleton, spokeswoman for SarahPAC, the governor’s political action committee, says Palin thinks Murkowski is doing a fantastic job for Alaska and wants to show her support. Palin’s term also is up next year, but she hasn’t announced if she’ll seek re-election.

Stapleton says the governor “has never had any intention, not even a thought, of running for the senator’s seat.”

Palin catapulted onto the national political scene when GOP presidential candidate John McCain picked her as his running mate.

The Shut Up and Swallow Congress

Michelle Malkin

Deliberation in Washington is dead. We don’t have legislators. We have lemmings. We don’t have debates. We have high-speed hysteria sessions. After ramming through stimulus legislation that no one read and bailout bills that no one understood, Congress is now poised to stuff down taxpayers’ throats a deficit-exploding $3.5 trillion budget that enshrines the largest tax increase in American history.
Welcome to the cap-and-trade crap sandwich.

The Democrats want to rig the game so you don’t have time to figure out this latest act of collective thievery before it’s perpetrated. They have been colluding on a plan to circumvent the Senate’s 60-vote threshold and amendment process by attaching their massive green tax scheme to a special budget legislative maneuver (“budget reconciliation” in the parlance of the Washington sausage-makers)

On the Senate floor Tuesday, Republicans valiantly tried to stop the cap-and-trade bullet train…
Boxer and Durbin indignantly accused GOP senators of “fear-mongering” over the costs of radical greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

This global warming reduction proposal amounts to an unprecedented national energy tax on every man, woman and child. Every household. Every business.
