White House and CIA Lied, Cheney Wrote Request for Full Memo Release

The cat is out of the bag and Cheney did make a hand-written request to the CIA to release the entire documentation/memos of the detainee interrogations.

The White House and some CIA officials were denying that Cheney ever made that request, however, this documentation has been found and it appears that both the White House and the CIA members who were scared to go against the orders of the current Executive Branch lied to try and discredit Cheney so they could get away with only releasing the “torture.”

You can find Cheney’s hand-written request here.

Politico reported on this:

The form filed with the National Archives’ Presidential Libraries section on March 31 of this year shows that Cheney asked for declassification review of the two items from a folder called “detainees” within “OVP Cheney immediate office files.” The titles of the memoranda or reports were blacked out for classification reasons, however, one memo sought was dated July 13, 2004, and totaled eight pages, and another dated June 1, 2005, totals 13 pages.

Cheney filled out the request himself–it’s in his handwriting. The Archives later amended Cheney’s request to describe the two records simply as CIA reports (probably more vaguely than the ex-veep did). The archvists also upped the page counts to a total of 31.

I’m looking further at those dates to see whether we can identify the documents indpendently. However, June 1, 2005 seems to coincide with a time frame involving a lot of action surrounding the legal justifications for the interrogation program. One Justice Department memo released last week, finding the techniques did not constitute torture under international law, was issued on May 30, 2005, just a day before the document Cheney asked for.

National Archives officials said earlier this week that the request has been routed to the CIA for action.

POLITICO obtained Cheney’s request under the Freedom of Information Act.

UPDATE: The July 13, 2004, memo seems to coincide roughly with a meeting the CIA held with the so-called principals of the National Security Council to discuss the status of the interrogation efforts and perhaps to discuss a May 2004 report from the CIA’s inspector general on the program. The meeting was revealed in a chronology issued this week by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

UPDATE 2: Blogger Marcy Wheeler points out that the July 13 date is also the same as a CIA report called “Preeminent Source” about Khaled Sheikh Mohammed. The report is referenced in the same May 30, 2005 legal memo. So likely that’s one item Cheney was after.

Olbermann Will Give $1,000 for Every Second Hannity Lasts Getting Waterboarded

Keith Olbermann, who is against waterboarding, would be willing to give money to have Hannity waterboarded.  This is quite interesting, you think that if you were against waterboarding, you would be completely against it.  I guess if you are a conservative, you can be waterboarded in Olbermann’s opinion.

The rest of this video clip is nonsense.  The fact that a Huffington Post editor is brought onto this show proves that no experts or legitimate folks are on this network.  For Olbermann to bring up moral equivalency, morals, ethics and integrity is quite laughable especially after the shenanigans that the Democrats have been involved in over the years and even more so recently.

Nancy Pelosi Lied, Terrorists Cried…

Nancy Pelosi is one of the most contemptible personalities in existence today.  She must be one of the most immoral characters as well.  She is now lying about the harsh interrogation methods used on terrorists and detainees in Gitmo.

She was briefed along with several other colleagues back in 2002 after the 9/11 attacks and after a legal team and the CIA put together techniques that could be used but would not be considered torture under international treaties/law.  One of those techniques is called waterboarding; something Nancy Pelosi says she didn’t know about, or at least did not know that the technique would actually be used on a detainee.

I already posted on the fact that Pelosi was made privy to all of this information back in 2002 and was even shown waterboarding.  Those who attended the meeting even asked whether or not these techniques would be harsh enough.  She now has the audacity to sit there and lie to the public about what she knew.  She has the gall to lie to us and treat the public like morons by stating she did not realize those techniques would actually be used on the detainees!  Are you kidding me Nancy?

Pelosi says she was briefed by Bush administration officials on the legal justification for using waterboarding — but that they never followed through on promises to inform her when they actually began using “enhanced” interrogation techniques

“In that or any other briefing…we were not, and I repeat, were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used. What they did tell us is that they had some legislative counsel … opinions that they could be used,” she told reporters today.

Earlier, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) criticized Pelosi and other Democratic leaders for backing probes into the use of waterboarding — after reportedly failing to raise objections during a briefing on its potential use in 2002.

“Well, yesterday I saw a partial list of the number of members of the House and Senate, Democrats and Republicans, who were briefed on these interrogation methods and not a word was raised at the time, not one word,” Boehner told reporters at his weekly news availability.

“And I think you’re going to hear more and more about the bigger picture here, that what — the war on terror after 9/11 was done in a bipartisan basis on lots of fronts. And that bigger story will be coming out,” he added.

Pelosi says members who receive classified intelligence briefings are powerless to act on them — or even discuss them with staff — due to confidentiality requirements.

As a consequence, some members simply skip classified briefings to avoid being “hamstrung” by requirements they keep silent on the topics discussed.

So Nancy, just how stupid do you think we are? Or put another way, just how stupid do we now believe you are?

In the immediate post-9/11 atmosphere, did you really think the Intelligence community was only going to just “talk” about using enhanced interrogation techniques on captured high-level personnel?  Nancy, are you really that stupid as to believe that?  You believe the Intel types went to all the trouble of researching the techniques, getting legal opinions that ok’d their use…and then what? Let these masterminds of terror sit there in their cells getting three squares a day on our dime?

Nancy, if you really are that stupid and dim-witted, then you have no business whatsoever being in a governing, leadership position (You could still be in the government with those qualifications but definitely not Speaker of the House).  You should resign immediately. If you’re not that dim-witted, then you are an obvious liar that holds the average citizen’s intelligence in contempt. Again, you should resign immediately. Either way, Nancy, your response to this issue has tested you and found you completely lacking in integrity, honesty, and leadership. You don’t belong in DC, please leave and DLTDHYOTAOTWO.
